Some detailed information on lip plumpers, how they work and how I make my own.
Recipe Notes:
Use the "trial and error" method when making your own lip plumper. No one brand of essential oil is the same as another - Some sting a lot, others hardly at all.
Likewise, every individual is different. Always be aware of your own sensitivity level and if you are new to topical lip-plumping products, test a small area before applying it all over your lips.

I made this over the weekend based upon your video, and loved it!!! I used beeswax, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, cinnamon and clove oil. LOVE! Thanks!

i made one just with the cinnamon leaf oil,shea butter and coconut oil added few drops of vitamin e oil and for color half crayon on stove top melted great results but for sure tryin your recipe also thanks!!!!

Dear Mr. H I love your ideas! I am already a Carmex addict as I had jaw surgery and the dry/wet line on the bottom lip is slightly exposed and I need to constantly keep it moist. However, my lips are a little thin and I am going to try this and get a two for one effect. Thanks, for your hard work.

Geat video. Do you have to wipe it off at any point after application because of exces irritation. I've seen other videos that use cinnamon and cayenne powder and of course they have to wash it off after a few minutes.

Dude, you're a legend. :) I love the idea about snapping off a lip balm and using the container...it fits in my handbag better than a little tub. Also, it is a lip plumper in disguise. ;) I have a tip to share with you....Tiger Balm!!!! It rocks. It has most of the ingredients you use. Also, love the cayenne pepper thing. My lips are screaming and red. Lovin' it. Cheers.

I cant even tell you how excite I was to run across this!! I've been making this for YEARS. Since I first started delving into essential oils and remembered once what the cinnamon toothpicks we all chewed on as kids, would do to my lips! LOL\ Im 46,..and not as rich as I should be for having been doing this for SOO long.. lol Ive used capzasin as well,....lol

This is a great recipe. There IS a product like this that you can buy online (I've only found it on ebay). It's called STUNG! and it comes in a little rollerball tube. It's very strong, has a nice oil base (olive oil, if I remember right) and definitely gives that burn. It also has a hint of wintergreen oil, which I think would be the only thing I'd add to this recipe. Alternatively, maybe using Burt's Bees lip balm would be good. The mint and the spice fit nicely and it's very waxy (obviously)

@luciusfluff Thanks! Since making this video I've discovered my new FAVORITE lip balm too! I make an ultra-strong lip plumper just like this one, then mix it 50/50 with MAC's Lip Conditioner SPF15 (the one in the pot). It smells like cinnamon and vanilla and keeps my lips SO SOFT! (plus it makes about 6 sticks of finished product - plenty for awhile!)

I'm excited to try this out. I had collagen injected to my lips 2 months ago and its almost gone! I can't afford to spend $500 every 2 months if that's all its going to last on me. I wish you wouldve done a demo although you already have nice lips :)

@HeyyHuda Peppermint oil is hydrating, which is why you find it in a TON of lip products. It's skin-irritating properties are minimal though, which makes it fall flat in the lip plumping department (some people MIGHT find it does the trick, most won't though). You can certainly use peppermint oil in a lip plumper! It will mostly add scent, flavor and moisturizing properties though :) I use peppermint oil in a plain lipstick base that I make (for mixing up custom lip colors).

@luciusfluff You can buy empty tubes all over the place. I've bought them from several different stores on-line over the years... Do a search for something like "empty lip balm tubes" or "twist up lip balm tubes" and you'll find a ton of links! Some places sell tins and pots that you can put this in as well :)

@RocksinLOVe add a bit of lipstick that you like and melt it in, or a pigment/loose shadow product. any mineral eyeshadow or blush will work.

Also, thank you for the recipe! This is probably one of the best recipes I've come across. You're very thorough with your explain of the best products to use. I have a question though. How many drops of cinnamon, and clove oil do you use? I don't like really spicy foods, so I think I'd stay away from the cayenne if it were me. I think the cinnamon, and clove will probably make a great venom without the cayenne. By the way, I love your Tarantino style to your videos!

You can always try anything you'd like. There aren't really many rules here. It's more about playing around and testing out different combinations :)

I'm gonna do it your way now! My attempts with ginger essential oil were not impressive. Fresh ginger really stings and plumps, but the essential oil had almost no effect. Googling a bit revealed that the stinging component of fresh ginger (gingerol) goes away if there's heat in the distillation process.

@skoglund1989 the recipe varies greatly depending on how strong i want to make it and what brand of oil i am using (some are stronger than others). i recommend testing as you go to make sure it's the proper strength. you may need to have a friend with you (that's what i do) as after a few tests, your lips might not be able to tell anymore! ;) that being said - i will try to come up with something solid (including brands of oil), if i can i'll absolutely post it and let you know asap!

Good job! I've heard that you can use chilli pepper essential oil, but you got to be careful to not burn your lips, like you said :) And it;s kind ahard to get one. What I do to my lips look more plump - I softly bite my lips all day long and it became a habit, so my lips now look bigger all the time. Sorry for my english, it's not my tongue language :)

Also, another tip is that a lot of high-quality EOs and base oils are available online. I usually hit up Coastal Scents.

When you said clove oil I had an epiphany. I tried orajel (tooth ache) oil. My lips are now swollen. I think I'm on to somethin' here. If I'm not rushed to the hospital, I'll let ya know how I''m progressing.

I'd like to make this plumper! I just put icy breeze cinnamint breath drops (red liquid) on my lips and although my lips aren't any plumper, they do have a nice red stain.

I make my own lip plumper, but I really only use it in the winter to hydrate my lips because I have natural fat and plump lips and regular chap sticks just don't do the job for me. I use two steps: 1. I mix extra virgin olive oil, honey, and sugar and exfoliate my lips with it. 2. I do pretty much what you did, but i use the gel capsule Vitamin E because bottled Vitamin E is more concentrated. I also Use EVOO because it's very hydrating. I use Peppermint Oil as well. Hope it helps. (:

@4everyours7 grainy is no good! well... maybe exfoliating :) here's a thought though: the cayenne pepper doesn't really disolve - it ends up just infusing the mixture. if you add a lot of cayenne you may get a grainy product (personally i've always just noticed that the cayene sinks to the bottom of the container i pour it into so it's not a big deal.

@allie32091 use the trial and error method when you make this - i've found that every brand of essential oil is different (some are much stronger than others). they'll all work, but you'll get the best results from playing around with the ratios (it's a fun project to do with a friend... you also might need an extra pair of lips after awhile! lol!). the vitamin e oil though: anywhere from 3-10 drops works just fine. good luck and have fun :)

Radtastic my friend, radtastic!! I've paid upwards of $40 for lip venom. So, why pay an insane amount of money when you can make your own? I already have very full lips, but what I like about lip venom is it makes my lips look uber moisturized, and my lips look a little pouty. One tip I have for all you venom addicts, is save your metal tins from perfume balm. Once empty, use it to put your lip venom in so you don't waste the extra venom left over that won't fit in the original carmex tin.

I use pretty much the same method, except I use chili oil (also homemade) But doesn't taste nice like clove would... I'll have to experiment :)

@HeyyHuda That's going to be a personal choice. I hate wintergreen but it's the smell I can't stand. I LOVE peppermint because it's much sweeter - Think of a "candy cane," that's peppermint. Wintergreen is more like toothpaste or mouthwash. LOL!

I don't think it would be really "hot" enough... oils tend to work better. But you can test it and see what you think. Things like this are really about trial and error and experimenting and having fun IMO :)

@shaling19bigsis all lip plumpers all work the same. and they all work differently on different people. i've never seen ANY plumper make MY lips larger, just a little more full and soft looking :) if i wanted to actually make my lips LARGER, then i'd be looking into cosmetic surgery as an option. some people actually DO get larger lips from lip plumpers though! you'd have to try it for yourself to see what works best for you :)

I kinda changed it up a bit (well a lot) -Burts Bees lib balm (the whole stick) -Cayenne pepper (half tsp) -Some type of mint essential oil (only a few drops) -Vitamin E capsules (2-3 broken open) -Red Food Coloring *I like lip stains if you dont then dont put it in* :)

I mixed ground cinnamon and cayenne pepper powder with peppermint oil then massaged it into my lips it's a great exfoliate and my lips burned like a mofo! Perfect.

i actually thought you were joking when you said lip plumpers are basically irritating your lip until it swell. lol. my lip plumper is basically lip gloss. why does it call Plumper though?
