Anthony, you could try using oil pastels to draw your design on a surface. Oil and water don't mix so it might make doing a more elaborate design easier. The liquid paper won't want to stick to the water repellant areas. You could touch up the borders with Q-tips before the liquid paper is fully dry and use colored permanent makers on the oil pastel areas to add sparkle, color, more definition etc... I bought an 103 year old house that is 100% afflicted with "GASP" the horror that is wallpaper. I have one small wall with water damage with a fireplace enclosure (not used) and two doors that I need to fix up and came upon liquid wallpaper as a potential solution. How sturdy is this stuff? The ads say you can just take it off with water. I want something that can be taken off but come off in pieces and not be destroyed by a spilled glass of water. Can it be sealed with satin polyurethane once fully dry so it is sturdier? My house also went through a tornado prior to my buying it and the pressure difference between the ceiling wallboard and the attic which has no subfloor created cracks along where the wallboard was originally taped in most of the rooms and in a few spots broke through the wallboard entirely. I don't have the true popcorn ceiling but something like plaster rolled on without the popcorny bits. Fortunately, this is mostly cosmetic damage. A product like liquid wallpaper might be useful for my ceilings too. I am trying to figure out what best to do that won't be prohibitively expensive. The only other experience I have had with wallpaper was where it was in a bathroom and it was pasted directly onto wallboard paper with no primer underneath. That was a nightmare! I ended up having to sponge the wall with three pastel colors to cover up the minor dings in the wall. It looked pretty but since I was trying to sell the house I was totally stressed out by the process.

Dye, not paint. One of the water soluble aniline yes would be my first choice due to their UV stability. Paint might have terrible unforeseen consequences.
