I’ve seen a similar technique with the scraps, but the mesh wasn’t sewn into a bag, simply laid on top of the scraps which had been put on a piece of fabric. I like the bag idea as it keeps the scraps under better control

when you made the cross it gave me the idea to make one the same but turn it into the union flag, here in the UK we are made up of folks from all walks of life kinda like your pieces of fabric. thanks for sharing

This is fascinating! Well done! May I suggest buying a teflon snap on zig-zag foot? It will be very helpful in sewing over all the layers. Keep up your great work!

So beautifully colourful 😊. I am a patchwork beginner so already have a lot of scrap fabric. But I’m not sure my sewing machine would cope with all these thicknesses. Do you have any advice regarding which type of sewing foot to use and how to set up my machine for this project, please?,

Thanks No additional settings are required. It is possible on a standard foot. Try to lay the main pieces in a relatively thin layer. Everything will work out ;-)
