DIY Magnesium Lotion Recipe

Migraines/headaches, fatigue, infertility, sleep issues among a whole host of others are indications that you could be deficient in magnesium.
The most abundant food sources of magnesium are cooked leafy greens, bone broth, grass fed dairy, and cacao.
That’s a pretty short list making it difficult to get in sufficient amounts of magnesium through food alone. Especially if you are under stress and burning through magnesium rapidly.
This is why we love adding in magnesium topically through this lotion. You could just rub a magnesium oil directly on your skin but we’ve found it to be quite irritating. This lotion (especially with nourishing tallow) is smooth and creamy and leaves skin feeling moisturized with the added benefits of magnesium!

Just made it and I used lavender and a teeny bit of patchouli… if feels wonderful. Makes me want to go to bed early to try it. 🤩

Just made this and used lavender, Rosemary and mint. Note to anyone making.. You will need an immersion blender or a food processor if making a larger batch. I tried with a regular hand mixer and also my stand mixer, and it wouldn't emulsify properly.

I haven’t made my own magnesium lotion but I’ve tried a few magnesium oil spays and found them irritating to my skin. Do you find any irritation to your skin with this lotion? I’d love to process my own tallow, but that’s not possible right now. I wonder what the best substitute would be. I haven’t looked at your blog post yet. Thanks for all the great information you share here!

Thank you! I’ve found the lotion to be way less irritating on skin than the spray. You should definitely still avoid any cuts but otherwise it goes on much easier. I think a shea butter or cocoa butter would be a good substitute for tallow but I haven’t experimented with that myself.

@@FromScratchFarmstead Nope, still isn't working. None of the "links" I've tried (from the description box to the comments) are working. They're just basically words. It needs to light up like your hashtags do to take you to the recipe.
