Lose faith in you? NEVER! The way you rectified your “mistake” & put the panel in showing the raw edges, was genius! You are my favorite diy/up cycler/tutor here on YT! I am a seamstress and have sewn for over 70 years and I love this skirt! I am going to try to make me one ! I have one problem and that is I am too much of a “rule” follower! I LOVE that you follow your own rules and make beautiful things! I am also plus-size, 80 and short. Wish me luck!

OMG.....I have that fabric in a red. And it's a small piece but because I love it so much I don't want to cut it up. So it sits on my shelf with some other don't want to cut fabrics. Actually if i'm honest I have more on that shelf than the other shelves. I love to watch you create. So i'm pleased I came across your channel. And most of the time i'm amazed at what you have made. Fabulous Traci! Loved watching all the way...I’m kinda glad you did the miscalculating of the waist and showed us how to rectify it...I would NEVER have thought to put a panel in to widen the waist! I would have either cut the skirt down or turned it into scrap fabric lol either way it probably would have ended up in scrap pile 😂😂😂 I really love your videos and your past creation reel at the end was a lovely bonus....you are so creative. ..... This is such a cute idea!! I love toile de joie! Your elastic attachment would be so much easier if you just folded your elastic in half, then in half again, marking your quarters that way. Do the same to the waistline of your skirt, then match up your marks on your elastic to the quarter lines on your skirt. Pin in place, stretch and sew!

Yay for KZfaq paying you for all the time you spend making these tutorials - congratulations! I'm really proud of my favorite online teacher! As others noted below, I'm delighted that you don't hide that fact that sometimes you make mistakes - you inspire me to rethink the (MANY!) mistakes I make on my projects and look for ways to make them intentional improvements instead of flaws. I've made about 30 pieces since I learned how to sew from you - the first ones admittedly are now being upcycled yet again since they turned out pretty bad as I was learning how to use a sewing machine and getting sewing concepts down. But now I'm turning out stuff that I'm actually really proud of thanks to you! 💖💖💖💖💖

Don't find curtains like that here in New Zealand , though I did squeal out loud when You cut up the black skirt...it is what I am on the hunt for right now LOL ps I worked in a friends shop and they always said "when You make a mistake>>>turn it into a DESIGN FEATURE!!" I have been refashioning clothes for several years and I find your creativity so inspiring. When working on items without a pattern I also have to rework something because I miscalculated or didn’t think through something. Go easy on yourself! I really really love that black n white curtain, the pattern reminds me of one of my Ren Faire skirts❤ Ms Liz from The Frocke Shoppe makes these fabulous amazing 25 yard peasant skirts with 4 wide ruffled bands of fabric at the bottom, 2 of which are made from little rectangular boxes of different fabrics that she cuts out, stitches together, then alternates them with a solid ruffled band- they're gorgeous! The one I have is reversed, the top is white and has black n white fabrics layered at the bottom, and I can't see the details on yours, but it reminds me of it, but mine is just kind of a vine pattern❤

I also smiled whenever you asked if anyone else liked the smell of ironing…my yes I love ironing and the smell ❤! I’m sure it started with my mother ironing when I was a little !!! Infact I’m sure of it because the 13th of February was when I watched this video and the 13th February was the 15th anniversary of her death…just a little reminder from her to say “hello” ❤

H Traci, beautiful job, I love that your a leftie, it makes it really easy for me to follow your guidence, I did a wider band on the waist and threaded the elastic through with a safety pin. I'm always looking for short cuts😂.

Lovely. You could have used it to upholster dining chairs,ottoman too with a staple gun. Another idea is bedcovers with two curtain lengths.

New subscriber here! I LOVE your tutorials... I learn so much (like when you took the front of your sewing machine off... whaaaht??) and you make sewing seem way less intimidating! I have always been artistic and crafty, but like you, I'm a rule-breaker. I have a request; my hubby passed away about 3 years ago and I still have some of his button-down shirts. I just can't let go of them plus they are really cool fabric (he was a snazzy dresser!). They are huge on me and I feel like I could make some sort of badass dresses out of them. I'm totally into the boho thing, too. Could you make a tutorial on upcycling an oversized men's shirt into a dress?

@@tmyershandmade978 Thank you so much! I think I might incorporate the two ... top portion of the first video with the bottom of the second and a bell sleeve. My hubby wore 2xl and I'm roughly the same size as you! Plus, if I screw it up, I could always learn how to quilt, lol😆

I love this skirt so much! What a wonderful way to repurpose materials. My only suggestion (request) is not to show your examples with white on white like you did around 34:44. It was very hard to see. As for your measuring mistake, thanks for keeping that in. We're all going to have similar issues like that at some point, you just showed us how to recover and salvage a project when we inevitably make that mistake.
