i am a retired Woodworker who did Commercial Architectual Woodwork installation and before that Residential Carpentry and trim installation eventually i wound up running the Architectual Woodwork Installation team for 20 years and at one point or another i’ve either bought or used a Contractor 10 “ tablesaw almost all brands use inferior motors and parts with lots of cheap plastic the only one i personally like and think is made halfway decent is The Dewalt which seemed to hold up best being used and abused on job sites as a common practice to help prevent damage to the tools and make it easier to clamp to stands and similar required workstations we typically bolted all our saws to a 3/4” Baltic Birch plywood platform so everything would work best on our saw stands out inthe field those plywood bases were oversized and very much added some additional protection and strength to all of our tools we typically protected the Veneer with a few coats of Conversion Varnish (satin) i like your Camper build , i’ve always wanted to do one myself one day but the timing hasn’t been right for me yet in the past i’ve gone with used Airstreams ?

What would you do instead?
@someonesmitico
@someonesmitico Жыл бұрын
@@TheDouglash you could either use pocket screws, or notch the walls and frame the joists into them so you can put screws perpendicular through the joist and then wall stud. That said, the poster is correct that screwing into the end face doesn't have as much strength due to how the screw interacts with the wood grain.
@ronb6182
@ronb6182 Жыл бұрын
@@someonesmiticothanks I was going to say something on the other video but changed my comment. You are right. Many studs at home were put in the end of the studs, dad always hammered nails on an angle. Screws would even hold better than dads nails. Well back to the trailer build. I would put each stud under each roof rafter that would make the roof stronger if a limb fell on the roof of the trailer. 73

As someone who has built houses, I wouldn’t ha e an issue. But there are lots of people who don’t have the knowledge skills or know-how. More than that they have not the perseverance a project like this actually takes. So Rick on bro!

That table saw's stickers were rolling up on the edges. Did it get wet? High humidity area? That may be why it didn't last long. I totally get your thinking. I recently, reluctantly, bought a Ryobi router and table even though I'm a Dewalt and Milwaukee fan. But it's ripping lumber just fine so far.

Table saw issue was caused by putting it on a flat, unventilated surface. This prevents the motor in the saw from cooling itself. Don't operate one of these for extended times (ripping more than 1 or 2 8ft boards) unless you put it on an appropriate table. It will overheat... a better saw would have a thermal shutoff to prevent damage though.

An easier way to spread glue is buy it in gallon jugs and use a 3" paint roller to spread it. when you are done for the day just leave the roller in the tray and wrap it with a garbage bag. It will not harden until you need the glue again.
@davidlang4442

All you teardrop builders should know that lumber/plywood suppliers sell a plywood that bends very easily. Called "bender plywood ". Cabinet shops use it in custom rounded cabinets, etc. Comes in 3/8th by 4x8 sheets. Makes building that back door on teardrop campers much easier. No spring back. Great on that front curve too. On that classic teardrop, rout a 1/8 or larger depending on your ceiling material thickness, groove 1/4"deep just under the roof line where the ceiling panel goes. Both side walls. Before installing the back kichen wall, slide your ceiling panel into that Groove all the way down to the front floor. No gluing, nails or supports needed . Its bend will keep it up in place. Any flat ceiling area will need a few tacks . Easy peasy.! Happy building!

You are so impressive! Wow! I really appreciate your video and instruction. I stripped down my Dad's 93 Prowler all the way to the trailer. How did you do your trailer base? I am not sure how I should do mine. It has new wood on the metal frame. I just put it on last summer. I am getting ready to start again this spring. I am thinking I will need to frame the floor

It's a nice build. The music, you probably know by now that you can set it to like 25% when it's playing. CHEERS!

Great build. Still, have to turn up the volume to hear you, then quickly turn it down when the music blares.

I did not see any question about the inner dimension. May I know the measurement from height to width to length for a micro teardrop?
@BasecampUnbounded
@BasecampUnbounded 4 жыл бұрын
Rommel Abesamis The camper is just over 4’ wide inside and just under 4’ ceiling height. Total interior length is about 90” but will be divided for a rear galley. The sleeping area will be about 6’ length. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Like the video, wondering how much this thing weights? your using some heavy lumber, looks like yellow pine as compared to spruce a lighter wood, didn't see what you used to waterproof the underside of the flooring?
@BasecampUnbounded

Kainosktisis guessing it’s around 1k lbs. I sealed the bottom with roll on bed liner. Thanks for watching!

With smoke it did more than overheated. You could replace with a heavier motor from Grainger.

good video....I have a Dewalt and Ryobi table saw ...both great...use diablo brand blades next time....had mine for years of great cutting like you just did...treated wood too. I see that your blade shows darkness on blade tips...sign of needed blade change. Diablo!! thanks for your tips and such...good build!!

If you haven't tossed the tablesaw those ryobi saws have a small capacitor that is replaceable for as little as $10 shipped.

You sawed more then I would ever think for a 10" 110v saw. Ya have to go 3X on price for a little better saw. Should of let it rest and get a rip blade for it. Nice video content, you probably already know about music editing by now.
