I bought a few of those "connect to a 9 volt" kits. (mmm, maybe 10 bucks?) They come with integral resistors...just tested it on that tiny 2 pin socket on my knarly Mini-Q. It seems to work, I'm just waiting 'till I have a gash connector. I have also left all the 'channel 3' pins in on my other cars receivers for when I work out if they are viable too. Dude, I have to thank you, you've taught me so much. I have a New Bright Veyron I've spanked up and it's now better than my K989! and that's all you bud.

Unfortunately this kind of plug won't come off easily. So you'll have to wrestle your way every time you want to pull it off. Normally I use my nail to nudge the side up bit by bit alternating between both sides. Or just pull the plug off with the wires, the crimps seem to take it. Light port on K989 has very strange plug that I haven't been able to figure out what and where to find them. It's better to use 270 Ohm resistor and wire the LEDs in to a red JST plug if you use standard ESC (2-in-1) or JST-XH 2.5mm if you use other ESC and red plug is occupied.

1. No, the function is controlled from the board so we can't do much about it. 2. Yes, but it's quite simple, You just need a different plug that connect directly to the battery because (newer) ESC doesn't support light. And use 270ohm resistor. It won't have this kind of blinking function either.

By any chance can you teach us how to make the backfire light kit also? Thank you for all the videos. Learning a lot. Very very helpful 👍🏽
@BeaversHobby
@BeaversHobby 4 жыл бұрын
There are many ways to do backfire. A simple way is wiring a LED to motor power. More complex way is to tap into receiver and use separated board to read and process the signal. Mini-Z can't do this due to proprietary electronics. Another even complex way but work with Mini-Z is making a light controller with accelerometer. It will be a separated board altogether. I suggest the simple way, you only need a LED and a resistor then wire them up to the motor. It'll lit up when the car is going forward.

Is it possible to make the backfire light diy? Like on the mini z real action light ?
@BeaversHobby
@BeaversHobby 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are 2 ways. First, the clever and complicated; you'll need a microcontroller like Arduino to get throttle input (via mixing or splitter) then program it to activate backfire light sequence after you let off the throttle in some threshold. Here's my little project about using Arduino to control light kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ht9-fMilkrWzYnk.html . 2nd, the pretty dumb way but easy (only work with brushed motor); just wire a led (or 2 if you have dual pipe) directly to the motor to make it (or them) light up when you go forward.

Hi Beaver, can we add side blinker to this kit? Can this light system be used with DA 2 kit?
@BeaversHobby
@BeaversHobby 2 жыл бұрын
This is just some light bulbs wired to a plug so no, it won't work with other cars. You actually need a light controller or at least resistors and plug into the battery (like in this tutorial + how to calculate resistor kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lc1kqNqG2dXGgJ8.html ). To add blinkers that will need a light controller that reads the output of the steering then apply the light to the blinkers. Either that or a controller with IMU so it detects when the car is pivoting and apply the light automatically. These type of controller or light kit will work with any car providing you make it small enough to fit inside.

I don't think it'll work. This is for FHS and FHSS board. What board are you using? Is it ASF?

@@SCABRFB No, ASF needs different kit & that looks like this. rc.kyosho.com/en/mzw439r.html There are also resistors inside too but I can't decipher what resistance they have.
