DIY MUD FLAPS FOR TOWING

Күн бұрынThis video is about how to keep your RV front cap from rock damage or anything that you are towing. Making your own heavy-duty mud flaps that cost only $70 and a bit of time. They wanted over $300 at the store. I enjoy making things like this because you can always build it the way you want it and know the quality is better.
Materials used
1" square steel tubing
1" x 1" steel angle
Mudflaps 24" x 24"
Stainless Mudflap weights
2" ID x 2 1/2 OD steel

Looks good but your mudflap weights are up side down the flat side of the weights are for the bottom

Looks good. I like your idea of how they mount to your hitch. I’m “ borrowing “ your design. Did you ever decide if you needed the second tube across the top? ( along the V ).

Todd Phillips thank you. it’s holding up great without the second bar at the top. But I’m going to put it on there soon anyways because it would make a great spot for a handle. When removing it and installing it from the hitch.

Todd Phillips also I just checked a local truck accessory shop where I live. I asked how much rock tamers are and he said they just went up to $400 (CAD). So I’m super glad I made some.

I drove the trunk road from Cochrane to Hinton and last summer, made a mess of the front of my trailer. So these will be put to good use.

Todd Phillips oh cool I live in Airdrie. And yes your normal truck mud flaps don’t do much. I cringe when I see people taking there airstream on gravel roads without secondary mud flap protection.

Is there slop in the bar to where the bar could hit the bumper? I've looked at a couple designs, I'm wondering if the receiver reducer you used solves this issue.

The receiver reducer does solve this issue. The bars does not hit the bumper, it just rocks up and down a little bit.

Thank you 😊 I picked them at princess auto if you live in Canada. If you live in the states, I would check your local farmer supply store they could cheaper there.

At the time Princess auto had them, I live in Canada. Harbor freight might have them. I know if you lookup freight liner or kenworth they will care them.
