January 7th 2017 First start up and run of the season.
Built this waste motor oil furnace out of a 100 lbs propane tank and some black pipe (gas fittings) check out some of my other videos for more info.

By far, I think you designed the most Simple but Effective burner and the best part is keeping the Cost down which is awesome. I am building mime just like yours, but with few extra stuff. I might incorporate a Camp Fire Gas Stove for start up so the burning Chamber will get HOT faster without opening the Door, LOL. But overall, yours are simple and effective :))))

It appears to be very impressive. I live in the deep South........Southernmost Alabama near the coast. I need something a bit smaller. I have a couple of helium tanks available. I think I could do something pretty cool with those.

Just a little tip(and just the tip) if the flames don’t “lick” up the inside of the tank a lot of heat goes up the chimney. A stainless steel mesh in the flu helps to burn cleaner. Sink strainers that you put over the drain to keep food from going down work great.

ricvis44 thats the same as a catalytic converter the mess gets super heated and burns the excess fuel. and i was thinking he should put a brake rotor right over it to spread that flame out.

Add a 24 volt control valve on the drip. And wire it to a thermostat. Then you'd be set. Then you'd need some automatic spark igniter. Probably use some old Beckett burner electrodes. Wait.... Just fab up an old Beckett burner... Brilliant!

VW diesel engine glow plugs are dirt cheap, easily obtained, and gets fuel over it's ignition temperature. :) Downside, they draw 10-15 amps each @ 12v for however long you need to get the fire lit proper.

Hey, I have a problem with my current set up. The Pot I am using doesn't stay hot enough to burn things out. If I put the Fan on, even at low... It won't stay on :((((, keep blowing out :((((. Can you give me some Tips? Does the Pot / Burning Chamber has to be really HOT in order for it to re-ignite and burn ??? Thank you !!!
@MrAzspike
@MrAzspike 6 жыл бұрын
the size of the burn chamber (pot) you use matters if its to big then it wont run right. as seen when i start mine i use a plumbing torch to get it lit and often keep it against the side of the pot to get it to temperature to vaporize the oil. also to much oil in the pot makes it difficult to start so you could try starting with a small amount of kerosene then when that is lit add the oil. Good luck and be safe.

Works well, how about using some non-polluting method to preheat the burning pot before starting introducing the oil and small air blast? Something like a shallow container under the oilburning bowl with perhaps a half cupfull of methylated spirit and burn that to preheat the bowl above, and if that create enough heat the initial smoke problem might be reduced or eliminated?! 🙄

do you control the heat by how much is dripping in??...
@MrAzspike
@MrAzspike 6 жыл бұрын
Yvon Larocque Yes the oil flow + air controls the heat. But to much oil with out more air will burn rich and lots of black smoke. So you need to find a balance.
@roberttill3787
@roberttill3787 4 жыл бұрын
It needs refining, the air needs a blast gate installing so you can finely adjust the flow, not just by a fan speed controller. Another thing is exhaust gas recycling. Cars use this to retard the ignition point which slows the ignition point and also means you can further regulate the burn, resulting in a lower more efficient burn temperature. It also reduces emissions. This is done with a duct fan off the chimney, another blast gate and adding to the air intake just before it enters the burner. Once lit and running the exhaust gas can be introdiced and you should find with practice you can det the yellow flame (rich mixture) down to almost blue (ideal ratio) which is the sweet spot where air and fuel ratio burns at an ideal ratio and mixture.

So is both the oil and air being introduced downward together into the same central 2" or 3" steel pipe? This is a lot different from others I have seen where the air just comes up from the sides or bottom naturally, not forced down directly onto the pan and with the others, the oil is delivered in a tube from the side. This style seems crazy dangerous to me compared to others. Is there any particular reason you did it this way?
@MrAzspike
@MrAzspike 4 жыл бұрын
Yes both oil and air are in the same pipe. The oil starts in 1/2 and pours into the center of the 1 1/4 pipe at the elbow above the burn chamber. Combining the oil with forced air helps thin it which will burn quicker/vaporize. I have a few other videos posted describing the layout better

any added benefit on putting the flue out the back near the top and 90ing to the straight flue pipe? opposed to how you have it (straight up and out)??? Also one more quick question. My garage used to be setup to run #2 heating oil. It has a 4" flue (up and out) My question is 4" adequate for these waste oil burners too? Can I just plumb into the old 4" flue? 4" from the burner all the way up?
@MrAzspike
@MrAzspike 6 жыл бұрын
Sure you could run the pipe out the back it could keep more heat in the furnace before it exits, where in mine it goes straight up and out. i want to add some tubes through the center to allow pipes to get hot and have air blow through. 4" should work i went with the size as that is what i found for it. my set up was salvaged so i used what was available.

The air pipe is 1 1/4 the oil line is 1/2 The oil line feeds through the air tube inside the chamber and ends almost center for where it drops I found that the 1/2 line could fit in a 3/4 pipe. 1 of the other videos I layer out all the pieces and walk through how it hooked up.

Put some water into it in a very very small stream into the oil and it'll get three times hotter the whole thing will get red hot on less oil , it has to be running hot before you start it, unbelievable amount of heat with the water, it ends up burning hydrogen and oxygen after the waters cracked
@ivanivonovich9863
@ivanivonovich9863 2 жыл бұрын
'it ends up burning hydrogen and oxygen after the waters cracked'... THEN IT CRACKS THE WATER INTO HYDROGEN & OXYGEN... And then burns the hydrogen & oxygen, which makes water... And then it does it all over! Perpetual motion! By dang you solved the problem with Physics! No need for further fuels!
