Use ice to chill the stainless and the protective coating freezes and comes off pretty easy. Its a little trick I learned building concession trailers. Loved that shot of you spinning the bar around in the driveway, it brought back precious memories of anxiety of whatching the magician's assistant spin the box around that she would be sawed in half in. Yay. I need a drink.

The absolute best ending to an already perfect job would have been if some of the old Cheers cast showed up and hung out on your driveway at “the bar!” Maybe some of them are fans of your channel! How could they not be, it’s so awesome with the same funny, dry humor! Hey, if your wife and you are ever in Boston, I can show you the actual bar where the show idea was created from and create our own “Norm!” moment…”Bourbon Moth!” Love watching your videos and learn so much each time! A middle aged Critical Care Nurse and Nursing Instructor by day and learning woodworking DIY’s by night to de-stress, thanks to people like you! You do more good than you know! Thank you!

Firat time viewer, the algorithm somehow wanted me to go here and boy, I'm completely bamboozled. Is it a chill, relax video, breathe in and out or a woodworking channel? I'm so freaking relaxed, joyful and whants a chilled beer - for a swedish guy with adhd, feeling relaxed, watched a full video, completely lost. Yeah, this channel has everything. I'm so happy to find you and your channel! Will come back and I will tell my friends to join me in this mysterious place with a man with a awesome, and free hypnotherapy channel that teaches me about woodworking and bourbon. GGWP! (sorry for my bad english).

I love this. I’m doing a similar piece. Mine has to be foldable. But I really like this one better. This is for a client. It’s her first one. Maybe she’ll want another larger one as her business picks up. I’m amazed at how easy the pattern was. I’m just doing a chevron on mine and it’s simple… but just like this.. takes some time. I’m using reclaimed oak flooring. I picked up a lot of great ideas on how to do mine easier. Glad I found this before I built the walls today. And the ending… singing the CHeers song… I can’t even!!! 😂😂😂

I like that pattern but I would have (attempted) to do it differently. After cutting out all of the pieces, rather than placing them inside of the frame and cutting individual pieces to make them fit on the edges, I would have just glue them to a thin board or sheet that is slightly larger the opening, then after the glue dries I just slice it down to fit in just right. Since it would all be one unit you could even run a roundover bit after cutting it to the proper dimensions to give it some pop. Of course, the trim method works and looks good. Also, when making the triangles, instead of cutting one piece at a time you could just stack several boards together and cut them on your table saw. Not only would it be faster using a miter sled, but the cut would be more consistent. Chop saws are really intended for chopping long boards down to size. I have one and I still do just about all of my cutting on a table saw. Basically, if I can fit the piece safely on the table saw that's what I'm using. It just works.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who makes boneheaded mistakes while making projects. Thank you for showing your mistakes and how you correct/integrate them. That sort of softens the blow when I make my own mistakes. Incidentally, I just finished a headboard project with a herringbone pattern kind of like this. Instead of using my pin nailer (except for the first row of tiles) I spread wood glue on the bottom, leaving a few little spots where I could put some CA glue and then used accelerator spray to tack them down. Kept me from having to fill the nail holes or have them visible. Time will tell if that was a mistake or not. Great vid!

To get the cling film off the stainless in a smooth motion you can peel up a few inches along the entire length of one edge and wrap it around a tube or dowel. Then simply roll the tube/dowel across the surface and it will cleanly peel the rest of it off.

Nice work Jason, thank you. Once again, another lovely piece of craftsmanship. Now that you have mastered metal work, if you ever do stainless again just run a razor blade at 45% along every edge. If you keep the blade flat it won’t mark the stainless and will slice off in a tiny plastic spiral. Then just peel off the flat sheets of plastic. Cheers 🍻

Excellent project, reminds me of some folding library shelving units that I made for a kindergarten in the early 70s. One observation: You may well find that the piano hinge on its own is not sufficient to support those working surfaces one you start using them seriously - maybe some lengths of decorative chain on the inside would help.

Acetone (highly flammable) is the appropriate solvent for releasing the adhesive that is typically employed to bond the protective plastic to ss sheet. Unless you are interested in courting damage to your nervous system, I would highly advise working in a well ventilated environment (e.g. paint spray booth/outdoors), wearing appropriate solvent-proof gloves, face shield/goggles & respirator.
