DIY Outdoor Movie Theater + Handmade Storage Cabinet Build + Screened in Porch Before and After

Happy Sunday friends! I hope that everyone is doing well and looking forward to this week's episode. Today I am going to show you how I turned our screened-in porch into an outdoor movie theater!! But first I will share with you how our porch came into existence, and then show you how we built a storage cabinet to hold all of movie equipment, and then finally, I'll prepare some dinner and then we'll get ready for our movie night! Right - that chair is just IT for me. And I definitely didn’t want the space to feel matchy matchy. I think eventually I’ll switch out the black chairs, but for now we’ll keep them because they are so comfortable to sit in!

It is my favorite space to be honestly! Having a space that is outside and you don’t have to worry about bugs is a big yes for me. 😆

Can't WAIT!!!! I love special spaces! Jessica that was amazing! I had to make time today to sit and relax so I could throughly enjoy the full effects of the transformation! Y'all starting to remind me of Ina Garten and Jeffery! But it's Jessica and Mark! This is so inspiring for folks of all ages! And if you enjoy movies this is the perfect answer to getting the viewing scene rolling! I love movies all kinds...I spend a tremendous amount of time watching films in many genre's! With Elease being in film and television she constantly recommends different works from across the spectrum! I have a family room that I have been working on. I'm doing a Moroccan theme with lot's of color and pillows and lighting...looking for the perfect sofa...and new window treatments. I am loooking at possibly moving in a couple of years but in the meantime...I want to enjoy my space! We won't even talk about those nachos!!! Gurl1 Y'all eat good in the neighborhood...ALWAYS! Mark making those cameos keeps this interesting! Loved this start to finish! Keep building that portfolio!

Lol!!!! I keep telling Mark that the people want to see him - so I’m trying to get him to poke his head in more often. Love this video. There is nothing like outdoor space/oasis and its great you'll be able to enjoy it for a good part of the year with living in North Carolina. Also, I need to make those nachos.....they looked delicious!

For sure!! The investment on this space has already paid for itself as we basically live out here - it’s truly an extension of our house. And those nachos are a must to make - sooo easy!

My precious Sunday pleasure the chair that you purchased for $60 looks mysteriously like a Ralph Lauren chair I once fell in love with that was $1200. I love your outdoor space and the view is just great. Oh by the way that cabinet is "everything" 🗄️ gorgeous.

Yes I guess you’re right, lol!!!! It just didn’t make sense to create such a beautiful porch without a screen - I know I wouldn’t have used it half as much as I use it now. I spend more time there than anywhere else in the house. 😆

We have a sometimes 'debate' about design vs. function. I sometimes go for whatever solution is reasonably easy and is fit-for-purpose, even if it isn't the best design aesthetic. Jessica balanced me out in this regard. This cabinet made be happy because we made it specifically to solve our issues (ability to move it, holding the projector at about the right height, and enough shelving to store the projector, bluetooth speaker(s), and candles or blankets or more). To satisfy the desire for it to look nice, we used sanded plywood. If it were to be a nice piece of indoor furniture, we would use a nicer wood but for this semi-outdoor space we just went with sanded plywood. That had a nicer appearance than a non-sanded plywood or a pressure-treated plywood. A couple of coats of polyurethane on our sanded plywood should protect it 'well enough' for our needs. Plus, if was fun to do!

I wish I would have taken time to can some salsa. Each time we picked tomatoes from the garden, we ate them right away. I’ll do better next year! Great video but I expected it to be. As I live in Texas I say pass on the Cholula and get pickled jalapenos instead. I still have not seen Titanic either. I saw the old one. Since you have fresh tomatoes try making your own pico di gallo you will love it on your nachos1 Very easy to make I load my nachos with guac too.

Thank you!!! I like the Chalula because it gives good flavor without a ton of spice. Unfortunately I don’t love things that super spicy - although I do love a spicy marg!! 🙃 I’m thinking if I remove a good amount of the seeds when I pickle the jalapeños maybe they won’t be as spicy?? I’ll have to look up a recipe. Oh I love me some guac too - I just ran out of time. Mark isn’t an onion fan 🤦🏽♀️ so I didn’t feel like making two batches. Next time tho!! Lol!!
