Designing a romantic outdoor patio space is something I highly suggest. Working with small spaces can be challenging but can also make for the most romantic settings once you figure it out. Here are my tips and how to design a DIY extremely comfortable patio bed.

My new favorite spot..the pillows don't match, so that is annoying me, but the spot is so comfortable and living in California its the perfect balcony DIY. My dogs live on it!!! lol Think they think I made it for them. Every morning they sit at my sliding door and wait for me to open it, then they both jump up on the bed and suntan their little noses.

I am laying n this outdoor bed with my dogs right now as I write you back. It is so comfy, one of my favorite creations. So glad it is summer again and I can actually use it:)

Thanks Kyo, waiting for the first rain to see how the sunbrella fabric I used holds up. It is thinner feeling than other sunbrella material I have seen, so I am curious.Stapling was the cheapest way, the material was only $30. An outdoor cushion cover that big would of been $100's. OMG, so I moved and gave this to my gf. She decorated it so much cuter than me. It looks like a totally different bed. I always unisexed everything for my bf. Makes it a bit drab sometimes. I feel sorry for guys that have to live in barbies dream house...lol. I am posting a 1 minute version of this video to my instagram with pictures of it on her patio. Me an my dogs have been living on this patio bed. It has been so hot out, I have been doing all my computer work out there and just chilling at night So comfy!

Hi Adele, it is super easy. A lot of people have been asking why I didn't just buy a mattress cover. Just to clarify I ordered and used sunbrella material so that I could have an indoor mattress outside and have it be protected. I guess I should of clarified that a but more:) In case you design your own, use subnormal or an outdoor fabric, but being a Florida girl, I am sure you know that;) xoxo

I was thinking that when I was designing it...I was thinking unless people are in Cali, this does not apply right now. I love outdoor space and my bf has been begging me to design a bed, so figured what better time to do it then in the winter! lol..kidding. I am craving some east coast, heading out next week I think just so that I can put some boots, scarves, and gloves on:)

I get you, winter is spectacular. Now the weather is "warm" and no snow , but the Christmas tree is already up and spectacular. I always have a great time in Manhattan too, so many things to do, perfect time for your visit, have a great time! xoxo!

I wish you could show me a lot more then that! I was praying I did it right when I went to fit it to the bed! It is sunbrella outdoor material, so its super easy to sew just wasn't sure if my "fit and sew" method was going to work.. So happy it did!

I didn't realize Sunbrella fabric would protect a mattress like thst. I thought water would drain thru it and it would hold up to rain and sun. I need that fabric to redo my sad patio sectional and cushions, using your patio as my inspiration. Thank you!

Sunbrella comes in different levels of thickness. It is what patio cushions are made with. It is water proof and sun proof:)

i love your diys! soo creative and always such class :) btw why did you have to sew a mattress cover if it was a regular bed mattress couldnt you have just bought a regular cover?

Thanks so much J Lib:) A regular cover couldn't with stand rain and the sun ext...I used sunbrellla material which is made for outdoor use, so that if it rains or whatever the mattress is protected. It is thick outdoor material that outdoor cushions are made of. I should of been more clear with that part...oops;)

This is really great! Question - I want to do something like this with my old twin mattress I have. I have harsh winters outside, did you order an outdoor mattress? I'm thinking if I should just put a waterproof cover on mine and call it a day...

Hi Smita! I did not order an outdoor mattress. I covered it with Sunbrella material which is really thick outdoor material. However I’m in California so it’s a little different. If I were you I would get one of those mattress covers that are for adult incontinence they’re almost plastic like. I would put that on your mattress and then put the Sunbrella material around that just to double secure it.

Yeah, I tried the "free" wood pallets...found one that was double regular size (sooooo heavy) and a few regular sizes. Long story short, I ended up throwing mine away for the same reasons. Also, couldn't think of how to get the thick cushion I wanted and I didn't have a sewing machine. Clearly I didn't think through my project or my skill set very well:(. So happy your project turned out fab...as always!!!!

Haha girl me either when I rented a uhaul, staked out the back of the grocery store and loaded up 9 heavy as pallets, took them up 4 flights of stairs to my top floor apartment just to find they were all uneven. Ugh! lol.

Have you had any problems with bugs/spiders since you created the outdoor bed? I had a thought. You could use a waterproof matress cover under the fabric for added protection from rain. I just rewatched this video after watching the new video with the garden chandelier. I had forgotten how much I love the outdoor bed!! Your patio is wonderful!!

No not at all, but that is a good idea:) Thank you for leaving it. It is sooooooooo comfortable, now that it is warm again, I am out there every morning and every sunset with my dogs. We nap out there mid day.

Looks wonderful. I'm in SC and the weather is perfect for such a design. My questions are these...1. What material did you use? I know you don't get as much rain as SC, but there's still some rain (as evidenced by the delay of this video). 2. Are you not concerned about creepy crawlies like newts, lizards, frogs, spiders? What deterrent or pest control do you use, if any? Great video! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Anthonia, I mentioned that I order sunbrella material, that is how I am able to convert an indoor mattress to an outdoor. I guess I mentioned incasing and should of clarified the fabric I used a bit more. Sunbrella material is what outdoor cushions are made with and umbrellas. It is thick and super easy to sew:) If you bought a cushion this big it would be $100's of dollars. I put a link to the store I ordered from in my description box it's fabric.com. Do not go buy it at you local craft store, they wanted $50 per yard at Joannas. I got it for $7 a yard online. This is a copy/paste about the fabric. "Sunbrella is a leader in performance fabrics for indoor & outdoor upholstery." As far as the creepy crawlers, I don't get that here but I have always been welcome to anyone who enjoys my designs. lol. Spiders scare me but lizards, frogs ext...I think they are cute:) I am the girl that saves snails when it rains. I pick them all up off the walkway and place them in the bushes in which ever direction they are headed. xoxo

Everything is listed and linked in my description. The Tray is from Pier 1, I just got it, so they definitely have it:) It comes in a smaller size and a rectangle. xoxo

Hi Kiana, this one is a full size and it is so damn comfortable. Best DIY def will do again when have a balcony. I moved and gave it to my gf that lives on the beach for her patio. It looks so cute, she has striped and glitter pillows all over it with a mirrored tray. She loves it!

I am actually going to try to do more, I need to hire someone to do my editing or to at least help shoot me. I am just picky about music and I have to do my voice over's, so I am not sure how that would work. Plus giving up control is always hard for me, lol. I could def add fitness or food videos in between because those are so easy to shoot. Design takes a bit longer. Glad you are enjoying my channel Moon. Thanks for your comment! xoxo

to make this even easier...use a zippered waterproof mattress cover and heavy duty fitted sheet. :)

It's all sunbrella material which is meant of outdoor.. Obviously I bring the tray and candle in when I am not using it. The bed frame is sprayed with rust protector.

Hi girls, everything is sunbrella material. The pillows are outdoor pillows and that is why I made the bed cover myself. I had to order sunbrella material which is what all outdoor cushions are made from. I should of clarified that, I assumed everyone knew. My bad...The tray and the candle are inside unless I am using it but everything else is good outdoors:)
