Nice video. The exhaust silencer has a drip hole this should face down not to the side 👍

Thanks, I am aware, it’s still the low point.

I like your build. Watxhed from frame up. However, i think you running the HOT exhaust like that around the propane line is dangerous as a whole.

Noted, no issues yet but I’ll keep an eye on it.

Why do you have it exhausting right below the sleeping compartment? Shouldn’t you direct the exhaust as far away as you possibly can?

Technically it is below the tongue box. The sleeping compartment is the whole rest of the trailer. There is a gap between the bottom of the cabin and the trailer frame so no fumes will be trapped under the trailer. I can angle it down a little but on rough terrain it will probably get pushed back up. Where do you suggest it exits?

So I have a mammoth overland trailer very similar to yours. I am mounting my propex in the rear. I was curious why you place the inlet air under the trailer. Was thinking dust might be a problem. Was just going to mount inside. Amazing build by the way!

Your heater videos are fantastic and have really helped me with my own project. My wife and I bought a very old Scamp that doesn't have a heater so I ordered a Propex heater for it. I have not installed it yet as I was working on a custom tongue box first (coincidently got some ideas from your tongue box video as well!). Now that the tongue box is done this is my next project to tackle. My only question would be, realistically what is power consumption like? We will be heading to Telluride in late September, then doing some winter camping this year. I'm curious what kind of power I need (new power system in the Scamp is my project after this lol).

It depends on the outside temp and your insulation. The heater uses 1.9a continous running/0.04A standby. It only runs when it needs to though. I run my trailer off a EcoFlow delta mini 882Wh and haven’t never run out of power.

@@infosponge My insulation isn't great, something else that I need to upgrade on the long list of upgrades lol. I was looking at getting a EcoFlow River 2 which is a little under the Delta Mini in power, so I think that will work out just fine. Thanks again!

This is my favorite camper build by far. Your work is stellar! Did you consider mounting the heater up on the interior wall to give you more floor space in the tongue box? If so, what were your reasons for mounting it where you did? I’m not criticizing, I’m just curious about the placement and and your thought process in the build. I hope to have the skills set to do something like this one day.

Thanks! It has to be mounted flat so that’s the best place I could think of. I will eventually build an enclosure over the top of it to protect it from cargo.

It was hard to tell and might just have been the camera angle but it looked like the last U in the exhaust tube was hanging lower than the outlet. With how long that exhaust tube is there is a really good chance you will cool the products of combustion down to below the dew point and start collecting water in that low spot. Did you try it with no tube after the silencer? I bet it would be fine if you just cut that last section of tube right before the U and called that good.

I will keep an eye on that. The instructions say: "For the exhaust; the existing 22mm pipe should be removed from the heater, the new silencer and supplied pipe fitted directly to the heater and the original pipe fitted to the new silencer."

I’m having a hard time finding the stealth kit available online. You wouldn’t happen to still have a link to where it’s available, huh?
