Welcome back!
In this episode we paint the exterior of our caravan using White Knight's Rust Guard paint range. We used White Knight's Rust Guard Top Coat which has an 8 year guarantee, perfect for our caravan being out in the elements during our travels.

Nice work. Spraying gets into the folds, so its a good way to go with the corrugated aluminium panels.

Yeah so much easier, the part I did try with the roller left line’s because I was pushing it to get it to the folds.

loving the videos guys, just a heads up though your stabilizer legs are actually supposed to run on an angle to stop the van from rocking and not straight down like you have them here.

No they’re not. There’s two types of stabiliser legs. For low vans the angle ones are used. For higher vans the straight down legs are the go.

Love the paint job and the whole restoration project. Just wondering why you didn't paint the front part of the van. Just above the drawbar

Thanks! We’ve been meaning to get a vinyl piece made up for that area but haven’t got around to it yet. In hindsight we should just painted it 😅

You've done a great job... the van is ready for another 40 years! Could I ask where you sourced your wheel spats from....I have an old van and mine are cracked and falling apart.

It was the $100 one from Bunnings, it was okay did the job. I don’t have it with me now so can’t do a review sorry

What air compressor did you use?

we used an electric spay gun for bunnings so no compressor. we did try my dads air compressor and gun but thought the electric was easier

Looks great, can I ask, why you went with a water based white and not oil based? And what brand is your spray gun? I have never been a fan of those type but it looks like you got that one too so a great job.

Thanks! We chose the water base because of the quicker drying times and in the perfect condition you could paint the whole van in one day. The gun was okay and got the job done it’s the yellow one for $100 from Bunnings

32:31 I’m wondering this also. I watched the entire video and thought it was great but wondering if there was a reason that front part wasn’t painted. Mine looks terrible and will be definitely getting painted when I do my van but is there a reason not to?
