The press fitting process is always easy, no rust problems during the pressing at least. Getting the axle out can be another story though 😃

Really love you put everything used in the description( even for the dog). Lots of videos of how to will show the job getting done but never mention with what tools. Being is the associates program is great for you and me! I can get the tools needed and help your channel at the same time. Great information all around, thanks and keep them coming!

I use the same tool but it is much easier to do everything if you take out the whole knuckle off the car. I guess it depends on the car and space available to work . Good job 👍

@@DavyJones3 The alignment should not change replacing a bearing. But, dealership will want $$$ you do pay them for an alignment.

@@DavyJones3 i have 93,000 on my 2013 Honda Civic. The last set of front wheel bearings the dealership put on, lasted one year. (5,000 miles) I'm going to learn how to do it myself.

Quickie Version. I have a couple longer versions that show a little more. But the basic idea of a pressed in bearing is simple once you get down to just the bearing inside the knuckle. All the peripherals bolted to the knuckle is usually the hard part for me 😃🔧

I’ve done press style wheel bearings the same way you just did and you made that look so easy, when I was done I felt like I just go done doing the NFL bench press competition I was in pain😂

Great tip! 😂 I do know what you are talking about! Some of them are tough and really drain you. That's why the replacement is all labor. The parts are cheap by comparison to the bolt in style. Some are super fast and easy tool. Luck of the draw I guess. But, they are important parts and its a good thing to stress making sure they are working right 😃

The shocker just separates the bolt in style bearing from the knuckle. This isn't for press in style bearings. Its for Bolt in only that get rusted into the knuckle. You would want a 12lb slide hammer plus hub attachment kit, for press in style where the hub needs removal 😀😀. 5lb slide hammer kits work but hurt my elbow many times.

If you guys buy that OMT kit just stop by the hardware store for a high grade nut to replace the one that comes with the kit. Stripped out the nut halfway through pressing the first bearing out. Otherwise a decent kit for the $$.

Yup. I have some links on my main video for this problem too. New bolt and nuts and thrust washers. Not all bolts strip. I have an older version ATD tool kit (the original manufacturer) with hardened bolt parts and its worked for a decade perfectly using only an impact to operate. New stuff is cheaper and cheaper sadly 😕. Less money but more problems...

@@EasyFixShaun Both my bolts have been fine. Just lost the threads in the supplied nut in the kit. was hoping I could find a bearing to put under the bolt head too at the time. Same experience with tools as you though. Some of my older hand me down tool kits are still solid. I have definitely broke more new tools than older ones. But with the cost of the higher quality kits ill just keep buying the cheapo stuff and making it work.

Great question. No damage should happen. The force is placed on the races primarily. The actual bearing rollers or balls are just along for the ride. The tool performs the same operation as a traditional press. But it is much easier to use because it can be used on the car. And, if no alignment bolts are adjusted or moved to get the axle out (essential to use this tool) the alignment won't be changed by the process as long as parts are all exact 😀

If I take off my old bearing and it's a nonsealed bearing can I by a sealed bearing and use that instead to mske the process easy

No. Use bearing designed for it only for best results. Anything is possible. You could usE ID/ OD/ WIDTH and try to fabricate something but you would be in no mans land. It would be very experimental. Could work though but not recommended. It's a great idea though, I like the sealed style better also. But all the components are designed to work together at the knuckle, so you may have abs problems, cv axle problems. Wheel and rotor mounting in the bracket problems, etc. Stick with what ya got 😃

Where did you get the bolt my kit came with a bolt that stripped and seemed to be a different thread

My bolt is a 3/4" fine thread, but some of the new stuff is course thread and doesn't hold up. I got my backup bolt off amazon. It's common bolt but not commonly used so supply and demand issues are solved by searching online. Not many local places will carry what is needed. Here's the amazon links. @@danp7463 Bolt-on are much faster and easier as long as there are no corrosion problems. Subaru's Rear bearings with corrosion are brutal. There is a video I made about the hub shocker tool for those if you need it 😃

More and more people are lubricating these days. If the manufacturer was a "she" then yes- She likes to do it dry and give it to you dry. I have yet to see factory lubrication signs from a factory bearing that went bad and was being replaced 😃
