Another exploring video of our new Farm, but with a purpose. After not finding any antler sheds :( I walked our South Line to look for a natural terrain feature that would allow me to cut a road/Path down the ridge to access this part of our property. I got lucky for part of it and found an old logging skidder path! But this is the method I've used on several other properties in KY & MO to find the gentlest slope down a ridge and mark it for a future road. Let mother nature guide you on where is the best spot for your road/path to access your hilly terrain.

Fantastic piece of property Kapper. Really enjoy ur videos, from scouting the woods, building ponds and throwing Ryan under the bus. LOL Glad to see him get his channel up and running. I'm sure he'll be coming back at you. Can't wait.

I somehow stumbled upon your videos in my suggested video list. Never would have guessed a KZfaq Celebrity would live 10 minutes from me ! Haha. Who did you get to survey it ? We do quite a few surveys a year for Justin. (You may have said his name in another video.) Pretty cool piece of land up there !

With a road that long, what are you making it out of? What is an average price range and how wide are you making the roads? I was considering buying land Im new to it so haven’t seen real life examples how much people are paying to build roads in their acreage.

There are a ton of variables with a gravel road! We did not use fabric, nor base rock, which saved a ton of cash!! As long as the road is shaped properly you can save some cash on road fabric and base layer. Good luck!

The more I watch you walking the property. I come away feeling that back when they logged the farm, after that the land owners never did any timber management at all. I see so much scrub growing without and attempt to allow the oaks and hickory to re-establish on the bare ground. Once you open it up with roads, then I would start felling scrub and encouraging timber trees. Keep developing food and water, along with cover areas, but look at timber long term. I see a lot of wasted value on the land that doing a timber cruise with a forester would teach you about the land. Just my thought as I watch your videos.

Exactly it boggles my mind why so few people consider timber growing and harvesting a viable investment. For the most part, the sun and rain is working for your round the clock and all you have to do is harvest it when the time is right. It's almost like a passive income, and you got got a nice asset that appreciates.

@@impactodelsurenterprise2440 I agree but I think our government tries to discourage the timber industry as a matter of course.

Good morning Kapper I watch your "DIY Property owners where to build a new road in Hilly Terrain" in KZfaq. I am very interesting it, because I bought a piece of land and I am going to build a road in the road allowance. The environment of my land is similar as yours -- hill and bush and my land is in Ontario Canada. First, I would like to watch the whole series of "DIY Property owners where to build a new road in Hilly Terrain", but I cannot find them in your KZfaq, I have subscribed you in the KZfaq. Could you please let me know how to find all video related with DIY Property owners where to build a new road in Hilly Terrain? Second, could you please search your experiences with me regarding the following items? what you learn, what should consider before starting the job, how to plan the road, what kind the machines should be used, and how to control the cost. I plan to build this road by myself. Third, what kind the machine I should buy? Because I want to turn this land as a farm, I would like to buy a machine which could be used in building road and future farming. Thanks Kong

Well, I'd say to youtube search 'kapper outdoors building road' and see all what comes up. I got your email and I will reply, but honestly I think if this stuff is all new that you might consider hiring out the road building process because there is a LOT that goes in to it, and many differing opinions on what is necessary and what is not. Thanks.
