Sir I have made the same thing on breadboard, ir sensor is working properly but the LED light is not working. Can you explain why?

IR led Cathode connect to E means it's on reverse bias right. Then how it will conduct ? And same thing you told in Base of Transistor Photo diode's positive to connect. Then both are in reverse bias. How the conduction takes place ? Pls give the circuit diagram also with this video..

Does it only work with people or can any object activate it if it was close? I want to use it on my train layout to detect a train before it crosses a crossing and it can activate a flashing unit.

I built this just like this and the LED stays on and the PD and IR LED does not seem to work. I saw another video where the PD and IR were both hooked to the C terminal of the transistor, that one did not work either. On that one, the LED did get brighter when you put your hand in front of it but it was still on. So what am I doing wrong?

Low sensitivity. You have to change resister value. Just use 1 k pot resister and adjust according to range.

Your videos would be much more educational and interesting if you explained why you selected these components and circuit. People like to learn as they build things, not simply ape somebody else!! We are human beings with brains, not machines!!
