Hey man, i'm pretty new to the channel, but i've stumbled onto this video because i was researching salt batterys for a school project and altough this video is great to quickly learn the basics, i did have a few questions about the material used: 1. U use some kind of ion exchange pad, which is needed to sufficiently make a salt water battery, but they are hella expensive, the one you are using however seems really usable, since the surface area of the membrane itself seems small, did you make that urself ore can we buy it somewhere? And where did you get your membranes? 2. If i 3d print the parts, i assume i cant use pla, since the acidic environment will eat it away, any tips on what filament to use instead? 3. Since im planning on 3d printing it, but i dont have acces to an resin printer, so i cant print rubbery materials, any tips on stuff i can use to make it water tight? Some kind of rubber? or can i use silicone sealant for that? And lastly: any overall tips to make it as efficient as possible? Love your work man, its really helpful! Hi @cayrex, the 3d printed models you used, are they somewhere available online?

I was half way through the video when i jumped to make a comment proposing making this battery to a simple flow battery. I made that comment and then proceeded with the video only to be pleasantly surprised. Charging and discharging could be done with the motors in series so the pumps work with current during charging and discharging.

Yeah it's a good demo for a simple battery, just unfortunate that it requires an expensive membrane. Wonder if PTFE tape might work since it's from the same chemical group? 😁

Excellent video and very interesting! I am not sure if this reaction produces HCl though. Sure the equation balances, but would you not just rather get water containing dissolved Cl2? I think that will also test as an acid. Anyways you have my attention, i want to try it at home!

super cap? or just hydrogen oxygen gas storage battery. well another salt like baking soda would make oxygen not chlorine. chlorine hydrogen gas fuel cell battery? the membrane makes two compartments for the two different gases, keeping them apart but lets ions pass through. hydrochloric acid battery. oh there is also NaOH in the solution, on the other side.
