Thanks for the video. Just brought part today, and was wondering how to install. Cause I didn't want to take that screw off. Thanks again

many of these switches were wired wrong from the factory. that switch can handle 200-300 amps max. it is to disconnect the cab power only. do not Not NOT try to pull the starter thru that switch. the starter can pull over 1000 amps. know where those red cables go and make the right connections. pretty sure that's what happened here. and for safety's sake remove the ground cables first, if you don't and one of those red cables touches pretty much anything you will be doing some serious welding or even better "BURN DOWN YOUR RIDE" and wear a safety face shield, any spark near a battery could blow battery acid in your face. put a mud flap on top of the batteries to protect yourself. . think man think!!

im looking to put a kill switch on my truck a 1996 peterbilt 379 n14 and i originally wanted to put it on the batteries but then i read your comment and i went and did some more researched and looked at the schematic and i came to find out its my ECM that basically stays on bcuz its powered directly from the battery and i can literally hear it clicking (dont know what that means but it does) so i guess my question is. could i place kill switch between the battery and the ECM??? schematic for reference supermiller.com/pdf/sk26139.pdf

Not negative and positive lugs on the back of the switch, that would be a "dead short" (real bad, lol!). The lugs are "bank" ( your battery bank positive) and "load" (all the circuits you are isolating). Hook the negative to one and positive to the other, you WILL, if you turn that switch "ON", get a cherry red hot wire or 2, melted insulation that probably catches fire, and could even have one or all of those batteries explode, showering you with sulphuric acid and chunks of nice sharp plastic (trust me, WAY bad scene, promise), as well as any bodywork, bracketry, and parts surrounding that battery box. That electrolyte (sulphuric acid) WILL eat your clothes, your skin, your eyes, your hair quite painfully and rapidly, promise. It will also gobble any steel or copper it gets on, causing lots of rust, rot, and mayhem. NEVER dead short a wet cell battery, but especially never do it with a conductor that will survive a few hundred amps of current surge (like a 00 gauge battery cable, lol). Dead shorting that bank of Batts will give a few THOUSAND amps of surge current, and a REALLY bad experience.

I would love to see you put the positive and the negative on that switch like you said with 4 group 31 batteries.

is it easy to get one installed on an older truck as it didn’t come with a kill switch ??

What is GA or AWG cable diameter from the truck? What cable lugs size and crimping tool did you use?

I can't seem to find the lillswitch in my 2019 peterbilt it's a 579. The only videos I'm seeing are not for peterbilt

Why do you shut off your battery all the time?

@noellerew86569 ай бұрын
Your switch is wired wrong. Should be disconnected all the grounds. No wonder why you keep going through switches those switches are not meant for positive wires

Is the positive cable coming from the starter what you plug on the back terminal of the switch?
