I love to use dollar store paprika and or cayenne pepper after basecoat for color and scale. Plus you get a good sized package for 1$ to do multiple projects, good stuff!

Hmmm....I dont use spray paint that often (apartment living, lol)...However, I get that same look by using acrylic or chalk paint and before the paint dries I sprinkle a mix I make before hand of cinnamon and crushed up instant coffee. I have even mixed the cinnamon coffee mixture IN with the paint before because sometimes if you are adding more layers, it gets stuck in your brush anyway so sometimes its just easier. I've been sing this technique for YEARS because I love "Primitive" decor, but can't actually afford REAL primitive (very antique, lol) price tags! I've done this with faux galvanized pails, scoops, metal lanterns to make them look real, etc...you can sprinkle onto spray paint as well, I just don't do it often because its hard to spray paint inside, esp where weather plays a part (humidity, I had a very bad experience with spray paint & humidity even though I had the AC on 24/7! Lol!) But, this def looks great! BTW, lol, that first Primer paint you use, they make a straight Primer that color that I painted my hideous brass chandelier with that and it looks awesome, it looks old and almost barn rusty! I get so many compliments on it, esp from other people who live in my bldg bc like me, they HATE their chandelier and don't even realize it's the same exact one! Amazing what paint can do! The Montana brand of spray paint makes some “rust effect” paints. I’m curious if you’ve tried those. I haven’t yet but thought maybe you might have and was curious about your thoughts
