Thank You for sharing your great idea for Salt Paint! For a quick reference, below is the FORMULA (use same Ratio for larger volume): 3 Tbsp. Plaster-of-Paris powder 2 Tbsp. water 2 (approx) Tbsp. water-based Paint 1 Tbsp. Kosher Salt (not table salt) PREPARATION/INSTRUCTIONS: Into a small non-reactive bowl (like glass or ceramic) place P-o-P powder. Pour in Water and blend with stirrer such as a plastic fork. When at a pancake batter consistency, drop in Paint and stir well. Stir in Kosher Salt. (Mixture will be chunky, clumpy, and paste-like. If setting up too quickly, add a ti-i-ny bit of water.) Using a chip brush, "glop" the mixture onto your surface. The bristles facilitate the characteristic rough texture. Let dry 24 - 48 hours. Sand first with 100 grit Sandpaper, then 150 grit. Wipe with damp rag and let dry. For an even rougher texture, apply another coat of paint and repeat sanding steps.

It’s really amazing how much texture you get with this mix! I’m definitely going to have to try this soon.

Truly inspirational. What if, before sanding you added white. Then when you sand the green comes partially back? Great video thx!

Have a question? Im doing a project with drift wood and want to set it in a shallow wood box I have....I want the bottom to look like the ocean and a strip like sand....Is it ok NOT to use a sander on it once its dried?? Or is that a MUST do step??? I think this is gorgeous!!

You must do it correctly! Or the Plaster police will come and get you. Usually that means three yers of prisontime in El Salvador. But they have great tattooartists there. So it is not all that bad.

Will this cover a ceramic pot or should I use some type of primer first?

Girl, I cut the tube open and scoop the remaining out when it won't squeeze anymore. There's a lot left in there! Haha!

Thank you. I like to use a mini silicone spatula to stir. I think I detected a southern accent? I am wondering if humidity would break down the paint? In humid Florida twice I tried using a salt lamp and there was a pool of water on the table because the salt absorbed moisture from the air. Anyone have experience with this issue? I supposed it could be sealed very well but then sometimes that looks plasticky, at least on chalk paint it does. You should modulate your voice and music. On earphones music blew out m years, when I turned it down then I cannot hear your voice, just sayin.

Hi! I did it, it looked great first, the salt particles were shining through, really nice. After it was completely dried, more than 24 h I covered it with two other layers of plain paint and than the problem appeared: the salt cristalised out through the final paint layer. Any idea what to do now?

any word? did it change, was your salt very large?
@LEA67767
@LEA67767 4 жыл бұрын
@@luluperezfacio9236 it was sea salt, about medium size of grains, but the paint partially dissolved it, this is why it cristalised trough, in large patches. The solution was that I 'oiled' it, in fact I used a very greasy lanolin based cream (very thin layer), left for two days than I waxed it with clear wax. No sign of any further problem yet, it three months, it looks great for now.

@@LEA67767 You used sea salt instead kosher salt?
@LEA67767
@LEA67767 3 жыл бұрын
@@ninabrooks9121 I used sea salt, a coarse one, with the grains about 2-3 mm in diameter. Looks the same nice now, no other problem after I coated with some grrase and wax.

Plaster ist einfach Gips, kriegst du in jedem Baumarkt für ein paar Euros. Ich würde darauf achten, dass es weisser Gips ist, damit deine Endfarbe nicht zu stark verändert wird.
