For about $50 I went to Lowes for about 85" X 30 feet roll of screen, a roller thing at one end and knife at other and the rubber. Plus, I bought a tea tree for my wife to keep her busy while I work on this. I started putzing around trying to take out the old rubber but figured I could save time by seeing how you do it. I'll wait until the sun goes down more before getting back on the roof. I notice one the top, highest part, ready to go but I am too old to try get to that. The screen repair company can't come out until over 2 weeks and one night the bugs got in pool. Thanks for your help. I feel more confident now. BTW, when I saw the duct tape, I thought it was my pool. Screen guys said don't use duct tape, the glue will bake on the metal and you have to sand it off.

Huh? How can you do this by starting the spline in the middle of the the pillar? I don't get it.

*_*FANTASTIC PRESENTATION_** 1) showed how to do it correctly. For once we learned why the brown-handle thing with wheels has 2 different types of wheels 2) wait to trim excess - don't try pre-cutting the screen to size (mistake many people make with screen installs) 3) there was not a lot a chit-chat. Too may How-To videos on youtube are really made because the video-maker just wants to be the center of attention and likes to see himself on the screen. You can tell that type of video because over 90% of the video, the guy is NOT ACTUALLY DOING THE HOW-TO JOB, he is chit-chatting. They talk and talk and talk. "You take these two thin ropes, and then you lay them across each other. You lay them across each other in two different ways. Then you pull on them until they are tight." No, stop chit-chatting. Show us the shoelaces as you tie the freaking shoes. 4) the video length was absolutely no longer than necessary. FANTASTIC EDITING 5) the tools needed were shown 6) the install process was shown 7) the install WAS SUCCESSFUL, it was shown START TO FINISH, the editing was fantastic The design of how the information was presented WAS 100% PERFECT. The rusty pliers, which looked to maybe be near the end of their useful life, gave off a sense of humility, being humble, "you can do this even if you're a regular person, you don't need professional tools, just use the tools around the house. Maybe you can clean up youtube of all those 30 minute, 60 minute long How To videos of attention-seeking schmoes by creating a course on how to make effective How To videos. Thank you kindly for demystifying screen installs! In Orlando, FL the companies charge you $$ like they're doing a specialty job no one else is capable of. . .

My father had the material already. I’m assuming he bought it at Home Depot since that’s where he buys everything. But I’m sure Lowe’s will have it too.

He got the job done but if you pay someone who does it every day you wouldn’t have those waves in the screen you can see at the end they are called puckers we’re not aloud to have those after buying all the tools and aroll of screen your better of just paying someone 50-100$ for a panel but great job no hate ps don’t heat up the spline (rubber ) or let it sit in the sun just stretch it a little and it will go in like a dream
