It wouldn't be hard for a real carpenter to do a lot better but for 2x's and a circular saw under 100 bucks it's not bad at all. Personally I would have spent another 50 or so and done it a lot differently. I'm also a carpenter and was raised building cars. Thumbs up!

I want to start building my own rig made of wood, but i hadn`t any idea planning this. Your rig definitely helps me out. Simple, strong, cheap and is doing the job. And in my opinion, this rig doesn`t look so bad as you said. Little bit more finish and voila. Personally i will upgrade this rig to be more adaptable (Position of Wheelplate, Pedalplate). Thank you so much for giving me the idea and sharing the plans with us. Thank you and greetings from germany. May the grip always be with us. :)

Hey guys, That is an awesome job for what you wanted to do. It is functional and cheap. I like it ! I built my own rig with wood and using items I had pack ratted over the years. Like you said with a wood rig it is easy to modify and add to. I have added and modified for the last two years on mine. It is fully self contained now, I have it on wheels and the pc.monitors, sound system as well as all the driving controls are on mounted on the same wood frame. Thanks for the great videos you guys do!

I converted the cupboard under the stairs into a racing rig - just a PS3 with GT, but a 32'' screen, decent gaming seat, and a decent wheel. It's actually really cool - close the door and you could be in the cockpit of your own racing monster :D. I'd recommend it to anyone with a cupboard big enough, full of brooms and broken vacuum cleaners, clear it out and make your own driving sim rig, out of the way of kids and wives and pets.

I have an idea...You know that sport cars get destroyed at scrap yards all the time, right? How much would it cost me then to just cut out only the cockpit/cabin (whatever, you know what i mean)and fit a gaming wheel and pedals inside ?That would beat any playseat ever created. It would be second only to motion simulators.

I have seen a video somewhere here on youtube where a guy did just that. Had the front halfof a car sitting in the garage, even had the wheel and shifter hooked up from the car (not a Logitech or whatever). Two front seats, windshield removed and replaced with a 40 inch flat screen. Dudes are playing a sim wearing stocking caps, had cupholders and all, I can't seem to find it though.

We're cleaning them up and we'll have a link here in the description.. We've had some offers here to do it up with CADD and we'll take them up on it.. We didn't think about Google Sketch.. maybe for the next one.. We didn't need to learn how to use the pencil and paper though ;-). So glad you guys are liking the show !
