Welcome to our house! Our small entryway got an extreme DIY makeover and I’m so stoked to share it with all of you! This small space took weeks of work, but it was all so worth it!

Hey, Sam. Removing that door in front of the stairs and adding that new front door was genius. That natural light from the door completely changes the look of your entryway. I love it. Restoring the floors and connecting the color of the living room and kitchen floors is another fantastic idea. Your house is really beginning to take shape. I don’t mind waiting for each project because I know how much work it takes to remodel. Having done it myself before moving to my current place I know how obsessed you can get with each project trying to properly execute your vision. But the process and results are always worth it, and that really comes though in all your videos which makes them that much more enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work Sam, your place is coming along great!

I love how this looks. The new front door adds some much needed light to the space. The mirror looks lovely too. I just hope that the door handle doesn't hit it hard. You might end up with a broken mirror.

I just installed that same front door. It's a total game changer! So much more light in the room. Love the feature wall, I don't have a wall to put it on, I was considering using old blind slats and putting similar design on my doors.

Hi Sam, I love the new front door. It changed the entry way totally. All kinds of natural light. Absolutely beautiful. I'm really glad you remodeled the nook and brought it up to date. Although you should have stained and finished the wood before installing it ... LOL ... it turned out fantastic. You are allowed to make a minor boo boo once in a while. It's easy to do when you are thinking about a dozen different thing at once. I absolutely love the original hardwood floor. It's totally gorgeous. I just can't figure out why anyone would want to cover up such beautiful floors with laminate. You definitely hit a home run by redoing the original flooring. That'll be the first thing people will notice when they walk through the door. Automatic conversation piece. Love watching your channel and your DIY projects. Keep up the great work. Look forward to the next one.

It's looking better and better each time we see it. I love those floors. I'll never understand why someone would cover them with laminate. Also, I hate doing drywall too. Love that front door! Amazing how smaller changes can make such a big difference! Also, that door doesn’t look bad on the outside of the house. You probably think looks worse than it actually does. I think it goes well enough until you get new siding.

This looks amazing! My husband and I just bought our first house and I keep staying up at night excited about all of the projects I want to do. The diagnosed OCD patient in me wants to recommend that you try some exposure therapy for your stairwell drywall situation. Repeat after me, "my stairwell has patchy and uneven drywall" until it stops giving you heart palpitations. 😉😉

mudding and taping is a skill that you build over time. if you have to do more, no big deal. you are awesome! i suck at it depending on what kind of joint i'm dealing with. the corner beads and choosing what option is one of the harder joints, plus you pulled out the whole jamb and frame and have old plaster walls like me so it makes it even harder to get smooth. you did a great job and kept it real so i think it will help more people who have never done this and might be nervous about it. thanks for sharing with us!!! great job :)

Good video Sam. That nook looks good, but I personally would have preferred to keep the steeple and put a third shelf across the bottom making it an additional space for something like an emergency alcohol lamp. Then again, that space could have been turned into a nifty little secret hideaway for valuables as well.

Hi Sam! It looks so good! Maybe you could consider changing the outdoor sconces for something a bit more modern as a way of helping tie the outside of your front door. It is a simple and doesn’t have to be particularly expensive but I think it would help your door seem more fitting from the outside.

Sam, the door is gorgeous. I love it. Having done my share of painting I asked myself one question - don't you wish painting was as fast as you show it on your video? Between painting and drywall, not sure which I hate more. It's a contest but I think drywall!

A very lovely job on the entryway. I love what you did with the niche...I have to admit I was nervous when you said 'stain' as the wood is such a nice color in its raw state...but you nailed it...looks beautiful!!!

You can prep the drywall with scuff and metal mesh, then float it with plaster to even the areas out without tearing out the wall. If done right you lose a minimum space and get a maximum amount of wall continuity.
