12:02 just as a tip, the reason why the copper pins are sticking to the nickel strips, is because they are too pointy. If you round the ends of the copper pins, they won't stick anymore. I guess you figured this out already.

You can add an attachment like a diy "HOT STAPLER" for plastic repair commonly used now for car bumpers. I did, and it worked just the same as a $500 dollar unit. I just needed to add a switch to bypass the controller and it worked like a charm.
@DonnyTerek
@DonnyTerek 3 жыл бұрын
That is an awesome idea to be honest. I guess you would only need to add some sort of power regulator to control the attachment temperature.
@user-sf9mh1ms4q
@user-sf9mh1ms4q 3 жыл бұрын
@@DonnyTerek I did not add any power regulator and worked just fine. I have a microswitch (in the welder) that I easily turn on and off to manually regulate the temp. Yes, it could be too hot but you can let go the switch even before you even touch the plastic if you want. so it is not a problem.

Is the controller just switching the primary? I'm considering a dual MOT welder with very short pw for welding copper strips up to .2mm to nickel plated steel (18650 cap) but obviously 100a at the probes would not be close. NM: Looking at the wiring diagram it's clear the primary is switched, so as long as the transformers do not exceed 100a - it will work. 1000w/120v= ~10amps each - allowing for losses

My congratulations on the realization of your wonderful project, it's excellent, I'm interested in building one for myself. Following your indications, I noticed in the captions that the cable winding on the secondary should have four turns but you only show three turns. I also couldn't do four laps, just three laps. My question is, will there be any limitations on project performance? I would like to ask what are the ideal values on the display for better welder performance? greetings thanks

Thank you for the kind comment! I highly encourage you to check my latest video on the DIY spot welder that I have built if you haven't seen it yet. There I placed four turns of wire around the transformer. The performance will be much better with 4 turns. I got ideal values using 06 for pulse and 80 for current. You need to test yourself to find the best settings. Hope this helps.

If you put too many turns the voltage will be too high and cause sparks, if too few and voltage will be too low and less power available. Did you get 3 or 4 in the end?

Why does everyone place both electrodes onto the nickel strip being welder? Would you not get better results by placing one electrode directly onto the cell, and the other onto the nickel strip? That way, all of the current passes through the spot being welded, and none of it short circuits from one electrode, across the nickel strip to the other electrode.
@DonnyTerek
@DonnyTerek 3 жыл бұрын
I guess that would easily destroy or possibly result in an explosion of the cell since the current would flow through the electrolyte from the positive electrode to the negative, resulting in a dangerous short.

@@EDIPSOSTT 35mm is like 2AWG and i think if you could get like 3-4AWG wire you could wind it more and therefore get more voltage with more windings.The less space is in the holes the better it gets and if the wire is too thick is not efficient as it could be.

There's no 'how to' here, only a 'how you' did it.

Read the wiring diagram that comes with the board. You solder the components to the corresponding location on the board.

What a time waster. Too much video time showing how clever you are in doing the basics, screwing nuts and bolts, drilling holes soldering. Keep the actions relevant and technical and leave the basics to the builder. If the builder can not do the basics then perhaps he/she should not be doing the project. I am at this stage 9 minutes into a 12 minute video and really do not yet understand where you are going with it all, but my goodness I sure know how to drill a hole and screw up a nut and a bolt.

Hi! Thanks for the honest opinion. I'm actually not too happy of how I made this video myself now that I look at it. Definitely too much unneeded footage that should have been cut off. I will post some more in depth info on upgrading the same spot welder for better performance in my upcoming video.

@@DonnyTerek Hi Donny, hope I did not come across as too hash. I was trying to point out to you [as briefly as I could] how what was your potentially excellent project seemed to get bogged down in the wrong sort of details and trivia and seemed to lose direction to achieve the aim of the project. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the concept you were aiming for as well as your technical expertise. Keep up the good work.

the amount of heat it is generation it would be way better to solder it why waste so much time on such thing
