Thanks for making the video on spray foam. I wondered if it works and now I don't have to try it for my self. I got tired of fixing the tires on my garden cart that is similar to yours and I looked and looked for a solution I could afford, I found 10 in. x 2.5 in. Cosco Flat-Free Replacement Wheels for Hand Trucks (2-Pack) for about $25 for the 2-pack. They are a little shorter than the original tires but I thought it was worth trying and I am so glad I did. I have hauled a lot of weight in mine and they have held up over the couple years I been having them on the wagon. They look like cheap plastic but they are very sturdy. I also like the yellow because it actually matches my little John Deere tire wheels that I pull that wagon with. I loaded up about 8 concrete blocks in it recently, the 16" x 8" x 8" size blocks. I have about an acre property and was moving the blocks from one end to other end of property. My little john deer is an S-100, I could tell the weight was on the trailer pulling it. I like those tires so much that I replaced the tires I had on my mobile mini greehhouse I built. When my hand cart tires get worn out I will replace those with the 10 in. x 2.5 in. Cosco Flat-Free Replacement Wheels for Hand Trucks (2-Pack) also. I really like those tires and can't beat the price. If a person doesn't like the bright yellow they could always spray paint them another color. If ya google those tires you will find them from several vendors. I got mine at the big orange store but they have went up in price there since I bought m last set.

Same here. It has to cure for more than a day. Never mind what the can says. Do it ahead of time and keep it as a spare. Also the tires he is using are very narrow and put more pressure on one spot. Wider tractor front tires work better.

Rocking on. I still may give it a shot on my mower, the dirty b^^^^^^^. Something I did use spray foam for was making the shaped lining inside a guitar case. Turns out, probably do not want to leave your Gibson Les Paul wrapped in a trash bag exposed to the heat of expanding foam, or the potential of chemical leaks. It cured so globby I ended up cutting quite a bit back out and cutting panels of 1/2 foam to fit the guitar, gluing them together and covering them with my fabric. But hey, experimenting is fun. At the price of wood right now, I am visualizing spray foam lumber.

I think I'm going to try this on my tool box cart. I have spent a lot of time in the past replacing tires, cleaning beads, putting in tubes, making sure there is nothing to puncture a hole in the tire and still come in the next day to find a flat. I even accused co workers at sabotaging my tires and/or letting the air out just to mess with me so I locked it up in a place no one else could get to and, yep flat tire. The cart just sits in one spot untill I really need to move it and then I air the tires, take it to the next location and park it there for the next few weeks instead of pulling it around to the different locations outside where I really need the tools like I originally wanted to do. So much time saved if you don't have to trek back inside to get a tool cause your tools are there beside you at the job. Yep, think I'm going to try this.

I have a skid loader that came to me with foam-filled tires. The former owner used it for building demolition, and had lots of flats before he filled the tires with foam. I don't know what sort of foam he used. He may have had it done commercially. Whatever foam he used, it has held up in the skid loader tires for fifteen years now.

try trans fluid or even used motor oil . over years , oil will ruin the tire , but it's free , and you ruin your tires by drilling holes for the foam anyway . you can't later put a tube in a tire that had oil in it though , it'll dissolve the tube quickly (like overnight) .

Need to run the test with a couple more variables. Different types of foam, closed cell vs. open cell foam, high density foam and closed cell vs open cell foam again. Wet the tire thoroughly inside before foam is added. Plus, without drilling the holes, wouldn’t it be better for the tire after it’s foamed because you could perhaps even air it a bit up after it’s cured and see if it is better or worse for its life, and you could build one of those things like the DMV has for dyno testing where you can run the tires under load and not need to actually be driving around for hundreds of miles or hours or whatever? Maybe even spin the tire immediately after foaming while it’s foam is still curing could help it spread with centripetal force, you know like have it mounted and then use the throttle to spin it while it’s off the ground under no load perhaps? Have fun, that’s the most important part of the experiments apart from solving a really great series of questions. Thx for the video, it got me thinking, that’s for sure

@@GanderFlight Original Equipment or rather Original manufacturer if you want to think of it that way. Well, I guess they use a third party, but I know companies all of the time will have skid steer and hoist tires factory filled with foam. Funny thing is though if ones ever cut apart it looks like the foam is only in the tread area of the tire, which doesn't make sense but I assume it's very stout stuff for loads considering these pieces of equipment with load can easily weigh up to around 20000lbs and do 40 to 50 mph on the road then there are companies filling large tractor tires with foam and those can weigh up to 30 or 40000lbs depending on hp and size. I imagine it's just too expensive for your average person though - probably the 2 part you were talking about?

@@GHuggins gotcha, I figured that's what you were referring to but wanted to clarify. Ultimately, the customer obviously doesn't have a HUGE pain point, other wise the OEM would solve the issue, hopefully ;)

I was wondering about tennis balls and I've seen plastic pipe used as well for tubeless tire designs, though unless using a good quality rubber tube stacked... gonna fail is my guess. Might not with plastic pipe inside tires... though safe to go with rubber is my thought. Makes me now wonder about that playground rubber replacement for sand as well. The rubber products coupled with a coating of the FlexFoam-iT!™ 25 would probably be good for a while. Looks like Lowe's and Tractor Supply have "NuScape Brown Rubber Nugget Mulch" and the price looks good alone. Man, that gets me wondering about applying like you did with the side wall holes or maybe better using a sharp razor blade cutter to cut out the one or maybe more fill hole(s) and bonding that sidewall piece back in after filling with NuScape with like what the "sixtyfiveford" YT channel uses in the video titled "Tire Sidewall PUNCTURE permanent repair procedure" the PR40 to PR100 (difference in set time and viscosity) Rubber Weld by 3M.

@@GanderFlight Yeah, thinking the rubber mulch is more feasible installed using the hole saw'd or maybe slit method and PR40 Scotch-Weld to adhere back the slits or hole saw'd out pieces. Thinking the slits will be the better route. My only concern is a lack of uniformity with the rubber mulch if there isn't an adhesive coating on that (maybe type 1 silicone though better to be a optimal rubber adhesive like used on the side walls or tire repair patches maybe) when installed and balanced out to be uniform.

Pls forgive the length of this comment BUT I have used a length of rubber, maybe its silicone hose.. I honestly don't... and added it to the end of the straw as a flexible extension for longer reach. Ive used it for wall/ceiling gaps where the space kinda rounds a corner or runs along a board where it needs reach but you need the expanding foam to really fill up the space so adding holes would be counter-productive. I plan to use this when i add the expanding foam around the hollow space around my bath tub. I think im going to experiment using my method but also i think im going to pry the tire away from the rim, add styrofoam, maybe glue it inside and leave a small channel to run my hose and add the spray foam that way .. might work 🤷🏼‍♀️ *Btw the hose is medical grade air hose like the hose from the hospital for oxygen or a nebulizer. (for anyone who doesn't know what a nebulizer is, it's a machine thats usually small/ portable for breathing treatments like at the hospital but for home use to help with asthma/copd/bronchitis ect.) I have asthma and i had a friend whos dad passed away and he had a large stash of those hoses so instead of throwing it out she gave it to me. So any of it that was already open, has been torn ect I've used in projects. I dont suggest wasting money to buy that special is all lol😂

I will also try the 2 part FlexFoam 25 in front tractor tyres. But I wanna get new tyres before I waste foam on them. I might use golfballs or baseballs if I can find them lying around, to take up space so it takes less foam to fill a tyre. Low speed, so it wont matter on balance.

Lol.... My neighbors would Lynch me if my mower was three years old, let alone a older mower with hole in the tires....

Not a good solution. This is low-density, rigid foam. You want high-density, flexible foam like Smooth-On's FlexFoam-iT! 25.

If you can’t fix it right don’t use foam

Fixed right is relative to use. This was an experiment. Thanks for watching Bruce!

Why drill holes in the tire when you can use the valve stem 😂😂😂😂

I tried that on another tire - the foam never cured that way for me.

Trying to get those wheels off. That transmission axle would be out feeding its own. Probably easier to take the axle real the transmission I used to build those transmissions when I work for the company. peerless gear. A division of the Tecumseh products company. I tested every transmission 100% shift test, inspected. I stayed there for 14 years until they closed. They used to lay us off. For the whole summer, it was the greatest.

The whole point of a pneumatic tire is flexibility from air compression. Spray foam isn’t flexible. It can’t work in principle.

Hey, i know how to get more views and attract more attention to myself and my life.. Lets be apart of the problem, and not the solution. Regardless if it works or not. Infecting others with stupidity is never the solution to a better world.
