I've done one steampunk lamp before. I really dig the style. Yours is more invoked than what I did. But I want to get into making these. I just dig stuff that's off and nudged from the mainstream.

that's really cool, I'd like to make one of these, do you have a parts list?...thank you in advance.
@251cchavers7 жыл бұрын
MrCustomConcrete MrCustomConcrete thank you for watching. I just put random things I had together. The gears are from a drill. The gauge I put the clock kit in was in the dumpster at work. The stainless grate is from a commercial mixing valve. I would say get a rotary lamp switch and create one. I would love to see. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
@251cchavers7 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris Charal I don't know why KZfaq won't load your comments on my notifications. First off. Thanks for watching. The part is called a rotary lamp switch. I would buy a better quality if possible due to their flimsy nature. Let me know how your project turns out my friend.

Hey Chris. Nice video! I'm curious what you used for the lamp shade? It looks super cool - kinda like an engine piston. Thanks!
@251cchavers7 жыл бұрын
Alex Iliev thank you for watching. It is a screen from a commercial thermostatic mixing valve that was going to be trashed otherwise. 😊

Hi Chris, I am wondering where did you get the small usb charging port that you installed. I have looked high and low and can't find compact 5 volt ports. Thanks
@251cchavers5 жыл бұрын
I used a usb extension male to female and rant the cord out with the power supply. It plugs in separately. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask questions if you need.
@251cchavers5 жыл бұрын
Look around the 6 minute mark if you would like you can see how I inserted it. Sorry I should have been more detailed.

@251cchavers8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You referring to the ice pick?
@251cchavers8 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't know that was what that knife was called. I have had it since I was a little boy. It went without handle scales for years until I put those on. There is a video on my channel of me doing so. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
@dilboteabaggins8 жыл бұрын
No problem! The shape of that knife was coined as a "sharp finger" by Schrade. The original model was a 152 OT. The shape has been copied dozens of times, and is a classic. I have one with nice maple scales. Keep on making!

How would one be able to sell these items and cover liability?
@251cchavers6 жыл бұрын
+robert morin I'm not sure my friend.
@plasma32116 жыл бұрын
Well i could make items for myself for sure. What i was interested in doing was making lighting. Industrial lighting is in vogue and very pricey. It seems there is very little in materials that goes into one of these, for the amount they charge. I can find these pipe fittings at secondhand shops for less and buy lamp parts. I have seen this type of lighting sell for over $600!
@glhdesigns27236 жыл бұрын
The lights neat but man you use alot of epoxy n man those crimp connects bug me so much as an electrician and a custom light builder on the side im very very picky about safety and build quality but im not trying to be a dick the light looks very cool 👍🤘
@251cchavers6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. I didn't know how to hold some of those pieces in so I just epoxied them🤡. The connections are approved and believe it or not I have seen them in a lot of lamps, as far as being a "dick" you don't come across like that at all. Thanks for the constructive criticism and for watching my friend.
@Arifeenn7 жыл бұрын
hold on, where is the part where you turned the red valve into the switch?
@251cchavers7 жыл бұрын
Arifeen Ahmed thanks for watching. It starts about 4min59seconds. I should have been more detailed. I only used the internal parts from it and filed off the threaded groove so it would spin freely when attached to the rotary lamp switch.
@Arifeenn7 жыл бұрын
Chris Chavers Thanks for the quick response Chris, actually thats the part i was most interested in, i also made a similar lamp but couldnt get the valve to act as switch,i dont have the tools to file off the threads :(
@251cchavers7 жыл бұрын
Arifeen Ahmed you very welcome. Thank you for watching. I chucked the handle spline up on my drill and just held it on a flat file.
