Hey friends, in this video, I'm sharing a few fun DIYs I hope you enjoy watching!
Our hallway was not living up to it's full potential both in style and function, so I decided to give it a makeover with new trim, fresh paint, new hardware, a built in storage bench, and a picture frame molding wall treatment.
I've crammed the entire before, during and after into this video and I hope you enjoy watching the process and also learn a few things along the way!

Wow, this one checks aalllll the Woodshop Diaries boxes! Rip out old boring stuff? Check. New black and white paint scheme? Check. An elegant use of basic building materials? Got it. Good straightforward interesting views and dialogs? It’s in there. Looks great? Absolutely. And - for the win - even some gratuitous dog and cat footage!

Shara, when you were smoothing out the putty with your finger it reminded me of the fact my Mother glazed all of the windows in the house I grew up in. That's the way they did it back then and she was quite proud of her work. I'm on my second generation of Ryobi tools so it's really fun to hear and see their latest developments. You really transformed your hallway and splashed it with your creative juices. Again, another enjoyable video. Thanks for Sharing!

I'm consistently impressed by your videos. Even if you make an error you mention it and then show what you did to fix it. I love the crown molding and the trim that you added. And I honestly think that any time storage is added it's a good thing. You did a great job. I do have a question though. Is there a tape measure that you'd recommend buying? I want to measure out some space in my apartment. So I plan on buying a couple of canvases to paint motivational quotes or at this point just to paint as therapy. So I need to figure out how big I want or need the canvases to be. Basically I need the tape measure not to bend or bow under when I go from one side of the wall to the other. I've thought of just taping one side of the tape measurer to the wall and finding the length and height. I really how this makes sense. But I still want you to know that you did a great job.
@WoodshopDiaries
@WoodshopDiaries 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words! So I don’t really have a take measure I recommend for measuring long distances or one that won’t bend over a long span. However, my favorite tape measure is a lufkin that has marks on the 1/8” spots. Like they’re numbered. A lot of tapes just have the marks and no numbers between the inches. But this one has them labeled and that’s super helpful. homedepot.sjv.io/X3PoM

Hi Shara. I love your videos. They are pretty easy to follow. However, I have a request if you could mention the plywood name you used in project then It will would be a great help for beginners like me. Thanks and all the best for your future projects.

I used the butcher block on my grill table for kamado grill. I keep it oiled, but board r coming apart in few placed. It looked really good at first and I could not figure out what to use at the table top. We'll see how long it will last before it all comes apart.

If it’s outside, I probably wouldnt have recommended butcher block. Treated or cedar would have probably been a better option for outside use and with gaps between boards for water drain off.

Love the build Shara! How is the battery life on your Ryobi stuff n things? I'm in the market, my current brand ... well it takes 3 batteries to weed eat around the house if that's a hint. P.s it's been in the 80s-90s here in Missouri your Hoody made me sweat lol.

Thank you!! I have several different batteries of varying sizes. So they’re all a little different. The small ones last forever in the drill and nail guns. But I recommend the bigger (4.0ah or bigger) ones for the circ saws, and jig saws. I used the small one in the miter saw for small trim and it didn’t die on me. However, if cutting a bunch of thick boards on it, it may run down a lot quicker. All that said, it depends, but, the ONE+ batteries are comparable to other brands I’ve used and my batteries are all 2+ years old with very regular use and no issues. All in all, I’m very happy with them

@@WoodshopDiaries good to know and thanks for the Intel, Ryobi is on my short list of brands I'm looking at. I'm leaning towards them mo than others mostly for the sheer number of compatible tools 1 battery could run. 1 battery type I mean, not trying to run my whole shop on a single battery lol

First! (👈 Sorry, my childishness wouldn’t/couldn’t be stopped!). I love all these projects you are doing in the house, getting so many ideas from you. Not to mention trying to work out trim/moulding makes me feel like a monkey with a math problem, so I do appreciate you giving the layout numbers. I also like how you release you premiers early enough on Saturday morning that I have to sneak and watch your new video!!! If the wife say some of these things this early in the morning, we’d already be on our way to the big box store to get the needed supplies! It’s okay though, like a ninja 🥷 I managed to have my viewing 🎥 without getting busted and having my “Honey Do” list expanded!

@@WoodshopDiaries Dang Shara, I think you jinxed me! Or maybe I jinxed myself! I d manage to get out of building certain things. Well I managed to get out of doing Everything…but only because of being attacked Saturday by a couple of those crazy 😝 😖 kidney stones! It’s only today that I feel okay enough to get out and get some things done, but now I’m behind!!! (Well, if you can really be considered behind if you are retired and do whatever you want, and at your own pace….or course, that is except for that pesky, never ending, honey-do list!)
