In this tutorial, I'll show you how to cut a large, baggy t-shirt into a tank top with a braided empire waist.
Materials:
• T-shirt (larger in size)
• Tape (any kind easy to remove)
• Sewing thread (or Liquid Stitch, optional)
Tools:
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Sewing needle (optional)

One of the best tutorials. I turned a 3X shirt into a M with the braided waste band and it's amazing. I was so nervous about cutting the material but it all turned out perfectly. Thank you!

This is so cool. I can't wait to try the weaving technique on a pretty blue summer dress that is just a little bit too big for me. I have been thinking how I could make it fit better.

You might be able to make a dress if you start with a really big/long shirt. Let me know how it goes if you try it!

Great tutorial! If the t-shirt material is very elastic, its a good idea to pin the sleeves together before you cut, to prevent it slipping around. I usually use a white pencil to mark where I'm going to cut as well :)

When I did this I found that using a crochet needle to make the waist really helped!
