★ DIY TABLE SAW | PART I - ENCLOSURE AND LIFTING SYSTEM ★
In this series I'll show you how to make your own Table Saw, from a cheap saw. The goal is to be able to have a reasonably accurate table saw without "breaking the bank".
This first video is about making the enclosure of the saw and its lifting system, making it much more stable than the original one. It's made out of 18mm Baltic birch plywood.

@@DMaker_builds Good, I too can't wait to see the next part. I have watched every video on youtube for homemade table saws and while I did see other videos using this same concept, the videos were not nearly as well made or clear on what they were doing, and a lot of them leave out parts that seem to be fairly important. I am making two saws right now, the first one is a small benchtop version that I am making out of an old Makita 2708 table saw that has a broken base and warped top, but it has an inner cartridge like the saw you used, so now I know how I am going to do it. Lucky for me I am also building a CNC router, so I have a bunch of extra linear guide rail! The second saw will be based around a bigger 2hp saw motor someone gave me, but that one has no other parts except for the motor, and the motor only has one place to connect to, which is on the side of the winding housing, rather than over at the front of the motor like most smaller table saw motors, so the challenge there will be getting the motor to attach to the housing in a way that keeps it stable. Regarding the other 2HP motor it's hard to help not seeing the motor itself or pictures, but I'm sure there should be another way to hold it in place, no? All these cheap 150 euros saws are all clones of one brand somewhere or another, I got a einhell one of amazon for about 125 and then made it stronger and adjusted the blade with a dial gauge and checked it all, after doing that and bolting the whole unit into a table I made for it as I am tall its not high enough it actually works perfectly , ok it does not have a cast iron base but it cuts perfectly with a sledge, perfect mitres and cross cuts etc, I have yet to adjust it again after having it for about 6 months now, I use it quite a lot and am pleased with it. If you take the time to set it up properly and add some additional strengthening it can be as good as a 500 euro saw. I did look at these originally and with the amount of plastic they have opted not to buy one. I just tweaked my cheap one and so far it has not let me down. It helps having it built into a large table as that strengthens the carcass of the saw and building some extra bars underneath to hold it I am happy.

Yes, that's also a possibility. But my saw was really hard to adjust correctly, and a few cuts after adjusting it gets bad again. That's why I decided to use only the motor, improve the lifting system, make a better tilting system and larger and more stable table (coming soon on part II). Not to mention the fence that's maybe one of the worst parts of this kind of cheap saws...

If you couldunt have a table saw that use to same aparats from table saw how it be done wooden table sow. Biggest probmlem that we have cant find lots of aparats to do. But it is done awesome. Thanks from Turkey 🖐️

Thanks Osman. This can be done with any kind of cheap table saw (like the ones from Lidl). But you can also use a standard circular saw and adapt the design accordingly.

Great work! Are the linear bearings not clogged with dust? Have you had to clean them already in a year of saw operation?

Thanks! 👍 Until now, I haven't clean them and they did not clog yet. What I do is occasionally remove the blade and vacuum the dust inside the cabinet. But I would recommend doing a visual inspection every year or so, to see if the bearings are ok and if they need a more detailed cleaning.

!Hi, even if my bench circular is not a parkside but an Einhell I should resuscitate to adapt it to your bench, but I am not very grasped in English, please can you explain the passage of the video from 0.5 to 2.23. The radius / distance and depth of cut and also the shape of the gear to be cut next. Thanks

Hi Gianpaolo, you refer to the part where I cut the hole to insert the motor? This hole depends on the size of the motor you are using. In your case you'll have to measure carefully the motor and make the hole accordingly. I hope this could help.

@@gianpaolo1331 ah ok, but this is not in this video, it's in part 2. It's not easy to explain, but in order to have a zero clearance when tilting, you have to make the center of the trunion circle coincident with the axle of rotation of the blade, which is right above the surface of the table. Then you have to position these pieces as if the center was in the same place. As I said it's not easy to explain here but I hope it helped.

I decided not to use glue, so that I can disassemble it for maintenance or make changes in the future. That's the reason I only used screws, but of course it can also be used wood glue to reinforce the bonds.

Efrayim Gultom I used the motor from the old saw, but a motor from a circular saw can also be used.

You appear to have blocked the cooling airflow through the motor by putting a solid back on the box up against the back of the motor.

I understand your point, and I'm thinking about making a few holes on the box to help with dust extraction, and that will surely help with the cooling of the motor. Thank for your comment 👍

@@DMaker_builds I am about to re-model my own table saw and will be following many ideas from your design. I will be making two holes in the motor box, one for a clean air inlet and one for an exhaust port directly behind the motor. These will be attached to vacuum cleaner flexible hoses and routed to the rear of the table to the dust extraction port. That way I hope to achieve not only cooling airflow but a clean dust free motor enclosure with a positive airflow through the box and the motor. Maybe overkill but it’s cheaper than replacing a large brushless motor 😀😬

Hola Carol, entiendo lo que dices, pero la mesa y guía de la maquina original es de muy baja calidad y demasiado inestable. La idea es construir una sierra mínimamente estable y precisa a partir de una barata. De todas formas, esto se puede adaptar utilizando una sierra circular.

dimensions on the first graphic have to be incorrect. 18.8mm x 27.1mm = 3/4" x 1" ... WTF?

Олексій Білко I’m not sure I understand your comment, but from translation I understand you ask if you need to buy a circular saw to make this table saw. The answer is no. This particular project is an improvement of a crappy table saw, but if you want you can adapt it to your needs and fit a circular saw or other type of motor.

Охотник на кремлеботов I understand your point. This is meant to be made with a table saw motor. But of course you can adapt the design to another type of motor.
