It’s been 1 year since I completed my teardrop camper. We’ve used it several times now and in this video I tell you about some modifications I’ve made and things I regret.

You did an excellent job, Really well thought out and the execution is logical and efficient. The fact that it looks like a commercial build is a testament to your skills.

I know I'm WAY late to this party but I have one suggestion. You might want to keep an eye on the rings holding the stove in place. We just recently bought an RV that the prior owners had used hot glue to attach some things and when the glue got hot during the summer, it melted to the point that it ran and puddled where it wasn't supposed to be; it also remained very tacky and never quite re-hardened the way it was originally. And, it was a MESS to clean up . . . alcohol and a paper towel, if you're interested. :) Nice job on the build.

Those Challenger/Lippert doors have leaked for us too. What we've found is that the outside seals can sometimes leak. We cut a small gap in the bottom of the outside seal of the door as a drain. No problems since. Beautiful build!

Nice Job Corbin! I hope a cabin vent will help with the door leak issue. One other thing I noticed with mine is that the window seal at the bottom covered the inside of the weep hole so it wouldn't drain as quickly as it should.

there are farrows i think there called sir on those jacks.. a ring that snaps in place.. kinda like snap rings.. just pop it iff that hole jack will pop right off... and leave the welded part on retro fit it with a wheel one...

Thanks for the video! It's really useful to contrast your ideas when building the trailer with the reality of your usage over the last year. You didn't talk much about the headboard - I'm stealing the same idea from Escapod so I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. Do you mind sharing the dimensions you used at top and bottom? You went with a single charging station in the middle of the headboard - how did that work out? And what about the LED strip - does it create enough light or do you wish you had a ceiling light as well? Thanks again for posting this. For a future video, I'd love to see a video that just covered your thoughts behind each section. Seeing how you built it is cool but would be nice to hear why you built it in a certain way.
@TheIoniqGuy
@TheIoniqGuy 2 жыл бұрын
The headboard is about 5" deep at the top and about 6.5" at the bottom. It's almost vertical but has just enough tilt that the door stays shut. Single charger in the center has worked well. The led light bar is great! Nice diffuse light and being able to dim is awesome. I will say it would be nice to be able to have a light that you could shine directly into the cabinets though because with two people in the trailer blocking the light bar, it can be difficult to see in there. Thanks for the video ideas too. I definitely want to make some more content.

That's a fantastic build. Interesting thoughts on the need for a wash basin. What do you do for water in the kitchen? Would you ever add solar or a side awning?
@TheIoniqGuy
@TheIoniqGuy Жыл бұрын
We just setup a 5 gallon jug on a picnic table usually and put the basin on the seat and use that as our sink. I have an electric car now that could power the camper for probably 6 months with the amount of power we use daily plus wherever we camp we have shore power. Awning could be nice but the up front cost is pretty steep so I doubt I’d ever get one.

I do not know what model of front jack you have. The one I have (Welded to front as well) allows you switch out the tong plate with a wheel.

If only need the wheel on the jack for garage use . They make small dollies with casters or make one yourself.

How did you cut the doors out of the cabinets? I really like the design but not sure if using a router or a jig saw is the best way to cut those to retain the grain.. Thanks!

Not really. I don't off-road and it's tucked up higher than the frame in most parts.

bro, thanks for sharing your experience. for your water leak, get a dj friend that has, or rent a portable smoke/fog machine, they 70€ new here, set it in one end of your camper, nozzle aiming at the other, turn it on, get out and close the door. 20 seg later, you found your leak. ( smoke-fog comes out)

Thanks Tony, kind words coming from you. I bought your book and it was great information. The drawers do stay put. I don't have a ton of weight in them and that soft close feature seems to be too much for them to overcome just driving with my sluggish acceleration in my Mazda CX-5.
