Great stick welding and overall build. Looks like the wobble in your idler pulley is introducing a lot of vibration--I'll bet it will be a lot smoother if you can true that up.

nice build! I haven't seen someone power tap a hole in a long time. I did a 2yr machinist vocational training between 2000-2002. Towards the end of my program, I was confident and comfortable enough with my machining skills that I hand start the tap in a vertical mill chuck, then finish the hole running the mill, stopping, braking, and backing out. It was always kinda of a "hold your breath" moment hoping your weren't going to brake a tap off in an expensive piece.

Very nice build, I noticed at the end of the video when it was running the unsupported belt sections were vibrating alot was this a problem at all? if so did tightening the belt tension fix it?

I was hoping to encourage you to wear a filter mask when welding. The biggest part of welding rod out sides is made of sand. Silicosis often leads to cancer. It needs to be an N95 rated mask. Just the ones that look like regular dust masks. It's paper like the dust masks but thicker. A respirator would be ideal but I'm guessing your not going to make a living at welding (doing a good job at it though) and are more expensive. Chances of health risk from a project this size alone, well, not to worry, just a good precaution. Thanks for sharing and hope you don't mind my suggestion. Cheers.

I love your build. Being a retired tool & die maker I,m always making stuff in my shop. I now make a few knives &made a 2 HP 2x72 knife grinder. So what? His tools weren't free. Neither is the location of his workshop, or the food he that day, or the clothes and shoes and what about the power bill? Surely we should count this in too, if we want to be picky. If you don't have the tools to make this grinder, then you probably can't make it either. So in the end it doesn't even matter.
