Today we are SO excited to be collabing with Buzzfeed's Nifty channel! We each picked up a few items from the thrift store and swapped the items to DIY with (they live in New York and we live in Toronto)! The items that we chose for them will be on their channel, video linked below, and today we will be DIYing with the items they chose for us! We ended up going with some pretty fall-inspired and spooky halloween themes - let us now which upcycle was your fave!

this collab reminds me of when I was a kid and me and my friends would give each other "surprise" makeovers and I would put a lot of care and effort into their look and they made me into a clown

Same!!!when i was in middle school and had sleepovers with friends we would do each others hair and i would try really hard and make their hair cute and fit their styles and what looked good on them and in return they always tangled and knotted my hair up on purpose and id have knots in my hair for days after that and my mom would struggle to untangle my hair after and shes tell me not tlet them do this to me i always defended them and say 'we were just playing'

Absolutely this. I guess I am used to the length of explanation the sorry girls do and was disappointed with the quick video of the buzz feed channel. Maybe I expected more from buzz feed since I like one of their other channels. But this felt like SG was NFL level and BFN was PeeWee leagues. First collaboration I haven’t wanted to subscribe to the other channel or even see what their channel was about after watching that vid.

You can pour concrete mix in the green salsa dish then after you get it out, you can arrange different little cactuses around the concaved part. Not sure if it would work out tho 🤣

I think that given the things you were given you did an amazing job, I love the squirrel bowl made into a Halloween bowl, and the jewelry cabinet is adorable, also the frame with the rattan around it is cute, I love the bamboo sticks in the round tray with the cute ball feet. And the hardest one is the green plastic chips and dip dishes, good save girls, so clever. This was so fun to watch you are both so clever given what you were given.

I didn’t realize people thought butterfly pressings were gross? But it seems like everyone in the video did. It’s super normal. All insects are. Their life spans are incredibly short. They’re pinned, it’s an art. I find it beautiful. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think the chip trays would have been cool spray painted with a metal finish paint and turned into a hanging planter or just a normal planter. Like a tray of succulents. Of course it would have to be able to drain.

I love all the ideas for the chips-n-dip bowls. The Sorry Girls could have an IG competition on bowl makeovers. I think dollar stores usually have something similar.
