One of the first rules of welding is tack first, weld last. Also, don't weld over magnets; you'll destroy the magnetism with heat. The magnet is to hold it in place while you tack, after which you remove the magnet and weld or you continue tacking whatever else you have to tack. Amateur KZfaq welders will screw you up, man.

Okay, so you've built a device by which you can quickly and easily strip all of the insulation off of copper cable..... .....to what end and purpose? I've been a mechanic for 4 decades, and the ONLY reason I have EVER need to strip ALL of the insulation off is IF I were selling the copper wire for scrap. This has not happened very often. In fact, it has occurred SO rarely, that the time and materials spent fabricating this device would be saved by simply using a utility knife. Also, what was the point of using multiple tacks to weld the pieces together? Why not just run a bead at each weld-joint?

When I was growing up stripped wire with just a knife. I literally stripped tons of copper wire with my knee and my knife. I guess this will work but when you are saving money the last thing you want to o is spend money buying parts to make the gadget. When I got my first old timer in kindergarten. Now people don't know how to use a knife or if they are even allowed to carry one.

Why destroy a good drill bit when you could have just used round stock and made a cutting edge on that

DIY? I think it would be cheaper to hire someone that welds for a living then spending thousands on welding tools. Not to mention the time it takes to be a decent welder. Just because you can put a weld on some metal doesn't mean it's going to hold. I've seen so many truck racks made where the welds break apart. I'm not trying to bash you because you're definitely a master at your trade. But that's my point... you make it look simple.

Wtf, never heard of an Wireknife?😂 I dont know if this ist the right spelling, but in germany we call this like This(Kabelmesser). You can ajust the depth, the knife cut in the wireinsulation. Thats very important, because you defenetly want not to touch the wire core with knife, otherwise youre not allowed to ise this part of the wire....
