@excitedbox57054 жыл бұрын
That is how most of these systems are made because you have very few options for a air tight connection. In ultra high vacuum systems the problem is actually helium atoms getting sucked through the glass.

Spectrum-Coatings, Majestic Coatings, Owl Laboratories. These are first surface coaters. For a regular mirror, best just to buy a kit and DIY. No chamber needed but you do need a VERY clean work area.

Wow that's amazing. Thanks for sharing. Just a question do we really need vaccum or do we just need an oxygen free chamber? Can we fill the space with say helium and achieve the same result?
@tonystanley53373 жыл бұрын
Did you notice the effort he went to to create the vacuum? If you just have to fill with inert gas then that is what everyone would do. You need a vacuum.

@routers49356 жыл бұрын
Ok , Thank you. Obrigado
@wannabe8x66 жыл бұрын
May I know why?
@dtiydr5 жыл бұрын
@@wannabe8x6 Due to the oxygen in the air that will react to everything but also due to the air pressure it self that is to high so the aluminium vapor would not even reach the mirror and if something will be able to reach it the surface will be far from shiny due to severe oxidation of the metal on its way. The tungsten coil will also be attacked by the oxygen and tungsten trioxide would also be made du to this which is a yellow substance and also not shiny one bit. You have to get the right equipment so you can get down to at least 5-E6 Torr before even thinking about doing something like this. A turbo pump is expensive but easier to handle but absolutely nothing is allowed to fall down in it no matter the size when it is on so its very sensitive but it will not emit anything into the chamber like oil or such. The other thing to use is a diffusionpump (used in the video) that is much cheaper but require a special type of little expensive oil and a DP will leak small amounts of oil into the chamber that could be bad for what you are doing or not a problem. But you usually use a special type of baffle that prevent like 99.99& of any oil to enter the chamber that should be enough, otherwise you need to use liquid nitrogen or similar to really remove pretty much all of it. And with a diffusion pump so if a nut will fall into it, it will just go on like nothing happen. If the same would happen with a turbo pump at full sped you would run and the pump would also be totally destroyed after that, it would be a very dangerous situation. So they both have their pros and cons but one of them is needed to be able to do what is done in the video, and also a rouging pump.
