Watch how a client built his own vocal booth using our carbon,
foam, and barrier technology.
Watch how power and HVAC were installed.
Notice the .5 sec. Rt-60 time which is always a
good start in a vocal room.
Remember that the door must be the same density
as the walls.
Male/Female Audio Tracks included at the end of the video.

I love that ventilation hack, makes the 2x6's make even more sense. Damn impressive door, too! Now, RT60 times are definitely a matter of opinion, but closer to 0.2s is more common for modern voiceover recording studios. However, you can control that easily with mic proximity and different mic pickup patterns.

B, Our foam and carbon technologies have the proper rate and levels for voice and music. When you balance those rates and levels with diffusion, you have definition and detail.

Since it is in the basement it stays fairly cool. I use a heat lamp to warm it. That works well.

electrician here hearing this from europe.. 20 amp line into a vocal booth.. damn that guy better grow some weed in there with that current! remembering that its only 120 volts. oh right.... at least i have an electric kettle that wont blow my fuse :D But that aside, love your build! keep it up!

putting a big heavy rug on the floor would help a bit more as well
@AcousticFields
@AcousticFields Жыл бұрын
Rugs do not have predictable rates and levels of absorption which are critical factors for voice. You must take a macro view of the whole room.

Ok so I’m new to the field and just building my booth. I don’t know much about the rating you mention I thought I needed to be concerned about decibel levels. Have you taken any decibel readings in the booth? Also I’m very interested in the ventilation and any noise picked up caused by that? Thanks
@AcousticFields
@AcousticFields 3 жыл бұрын
The materials and construction methodology you use in your booth are directly related to the noise levels in your room. Air movement created by ventilation can be easily managed.

A good example of only building to requirements. Obviously it's not designed to isolate neighbours from electric guitar or loud singing. The basement walls look like they would do that already..

Its a vocal room.
@jomgaard3035
@jomgaard3035 3 жыл бұрын
@@AcousticFields For sure. If there was a lot of outside noise, the vocal room would need some isolation to stop that noise encroaching on the recording.. so always the amount of isolation needed is taken into account, whether a lot or not much. In this case, not much needed. I think there are many folks out there who would over-build for the sake of it and not really consider what they really need.

Nice but the voice sounds very closed. Might be the homemade diffuser. Or maybe there just isnt enough diffusion,,, but it sounds like you are in a closet and no airiness.
@AcousticFields
@AcousticFields Жыл бұрын
This is the issue with small vocal rooms. The trend is for a larger room approach with moveable panels to form a variable acoustic methodology. You take advantage of the larger room volume and manage the reflections with different treatment types.

RB, Yes, remember that the door must be the same density as the walls. The door seal is critical. If the door seal is not consistent in its seal, you have wasted all your build time.

Will a 6ft long 4ft wide 8ft high Room be big enough for a vocal booth? I have a closet that size, so far I've added Rockwool to 1 of the 4ft walls (the only brick wall) And the other walls have basic vocal padding The ceiling has 1.5 inch ridged fiberglass panels The floor is just very thick rug I have some 1" ridged fiberglass panels I can place against the other 4ft wall I feel like I've wasted my effort and money because I'm worried it's too small now But I don't really know enough
