The condensation of the gas, due to the increase in pressure generated by the compressor, is an exothermic process therefore the gas releases heat, while the vaporization of the refrigerant fluid from the liquid to the gaseous state, due to the passage in the lamination valve, is an endothermic process. therefore it absorbs heat from the outside.
These processes take place in fixed air conditioners respectively in the external and internal unit, while in portable air conditioners both in the internal monobloc; therefore the fundamental importance of the correct positioning of the hot air exhaust pipe is evident, which is the only way to ensure that the heat is transferred as much as possible only to the external environment.
The first operation to do is to get a strip, perhaps a recovery one, suitable for the construction of the window adapter for portable air conditioners; so after untangling myself among cobwebs and escaping the necrotizing bite of the violin spider, I found an old PVC kitchen plinth in the cellar, perfect for the purpose.
Taking the measurement of the width of the window and adding about 1 cm to make it possible to fit it into the roller shutter tracks, I drew the lines where to cut out the strip and drill the hole.
With a jigsaw I make the hole, hoping that the number of initial fingers coincides with the final one.
Even if the cut is not Swiss precision, the tube nozzle fits perfectly.
To improve the seal I put additional gaskets by recycling the rubber pads of old windshield wipers.
Use of lubricating oil to facilitate the insertion of the seals.
I put some putty to stabilize the gasket in the widest groove.
I check the correct functioning of the adapter by inserting it in the lateral guides of the shutter and completely lowering the shutter.
I connect the hose to the portable air conditioner.
I turn on the air conditioner at minimum temperature and with the fan at maximum speed.
I insert a digital kitchen thermometer to check the temperature of the air jet at the outlet.

After a few minutes of operation, the air conditioner has reached the optimum temperature of about 8 degrees; so the DIY adapter works perfectly.
