Log foundation will eventually rot out. Should've used stones. Charring the wood was a great touch for weather proofing and insect deterent. Also impressive was the way you installed the lapboard wood

The cottage is very beautiful, but since this cottage has two floors, I think that the columns on the ground floor of this cottage would be stronger! There will be less pressure on the columns

I luv this!i have a tiny "boat house" by my pond one summer i stayed in it got super hot..had ben,table, even dresser n i had electricity!now the mice n evil sis in law decided to store there crap in it!😮 it use to be nice step out foggy am drinkin coffee watchin blue herons fly into ur pond!luv the look u got talent my friend!❤

As a home builder, I must point out the lack of wracking strength missing from here. Simply hammering on boards using just a few nails will provide no wracking protection as will the absense of diagnal bracing. Typically with stick fram you'd have sheathing(think plywood sheets) that go on the exterior of the studs, once all nailed in place that will provide wracking strength (horizontal motion, side to side) When you dont have this and go right to the cladding phase (what is shown here with lap-boards) you lose all that. At the very least if you are going to just do lap-boards as cladding , use more nails (lots more), and more diagnal bracing in the walls. That will provide some wracking protection against strong winds or a tree falling on/against the structure. I get that this is a budget build, but a few more boards and nails is very cheap to ensure this will still be standing in a few years.

Convenient that all the prepared wood was near. Lot of people mill their own on the build site. No metal fasteners for wood???? His symmetry and and angle cuts are great
