This creator should have born 50 years ago. That was the time when i was 12 years of age shooting birds with a catapult powered by rubber band. After several shots the rubber band snaps off. The trigger mechanism is the most simle yet ingenious way to make one that I've seen. I'll take this inspiration when I make a crossbow in the future. 🤙

Really cool design. It's mostly held together with superglue, but most of the parts aren't under much tension, so that's fine. But I don't know how long the thin strip of metal in the gravity feed ammunition mechanism will last. Very attractive finish put on it too!

I see you've done the ol' sand/grind through your nail to relieve a blood blister trick. The sign of a true craftsman.

Aside from the fact using CA glue to stick together pieces of wood isn't the best way to do it (there's also wood-exclusive glue that works better), isn't putting CA glue in both pieces, letting it dry for some seconds, then strongly pressing both pieces against each other a bit better? That's all there is to question about this build, amazing job

Some suggestions for both the audience and creator, dont use superglue/crazyglue. Use an actual wood glue, else in a few years with constant use, the layers will seperate due to moister and temperature and because those glues are extremely brittle. Also regarding the trigger system, it would be more reliable to put the trigger on a pivet and use an actual spring. Especially because buying a strong spring is often cheaper then buying a piece of spring steel, cutting it down and drilling holes into it. Finally, if you don't know what you're doing, the friction from working the steel will destroy the temper of said spring steel, and it will become less springy and more brittle.

I had to drill into myself! Thats so awesome. I thought i was the only weird one. When i smashed my thumb i luckily was in my machine shop. So i chucked up a 1/16 drill im my drill press and drilled right through. The way your thumb nail makes a chip is incredibly similar to delrin.

I have a question regarding how strong this slingshot is, would you happen to have rough stats like feet per second, and a rough estimate of how much effort goes into pulling back the rubber band. I am also interested in how far away it remains accurate. This is just personal curiosity at how effective this is as a design compared to standard slingshots. I am aware you could increase the power with a stronger rubber band, but just for curiosity sake, as it seems something like this could make a good starter slingshot due to being able to incorporate a site if it remains accurate at moderate range

I like the design, but there was one thing I dont like at all. Using that instant glue might be easy but it looks awfull. It stains the wood, ruines the plexiglass and overall means that there is 0 chance for you to take this thing apart if needed. I know some things are harder to build without it, but you could have easily done this with screws. Both better looking and actually repairable if needed.

I know it's way faster and holds plenty strong but watching you put super glue on beautifully cut pieces of walnut and cherry wood kind of hurt a little. Just feels wrong

Nice build! On the wood to wood parts, I understad why the video would use super glue (so they don't have to wait for the wood glue to dry and can quickly get it made for the video). But other than that, is there a reason to use the superglue rather than wood glue for teh wood on wood parts? Obviously, anything involving pastic or metal requires the super glue.

A few issues I can't help but wonder about: 1. That CA glue can't possibly be strong enough to hold this all together long-term. Have you had these break? 2. The CA glue also soaks into the wood fibers. Won't it make the finish splotchy? 3. The way you secure the rubber tubing to the screws looks like it's just waiting to come flying off.

Hmmm i know it would have been a little more complicated but i would have made the magazine detacheable (makesmaintenance easier and in this case even possible in the first place ) and i would have made a cocking handle/lever to make the arming process easier

Interesting design but some of where you used super glue I think I'd make it with wood glue and some dowels for added strength. Super glue has it's uses and yes the dowels would just be an extra step to the process I admit that... But I'd still do it that way. The epoxy on the acrylic and wood part I can't fault you as if you want that see through look the epoxy is the best way to go. Interesting enough vid though... Ya got my sub for it.
