With over162K Subscribers I think it's impressive that Ashley takes the time to read, acknowledge (with a heart) and respond to comments. I followed a channel from when they had less than 800 comments until they received their 100K button. They immediately stated 'it was now too much to deal with comments'. The entire tone of the channel changed. I unsubscribed and so did many others. Someone noticed a comment I had made on another channel and messaged me. Seems the aforementioned channel no longer exists. They stated people should cease asking questions since they were 'not bothering to read comments'. They literally 'shot themselves in the foot'. I do like the music Ashley selects. I usually realize I am smiling. The investment property is looking great! So much improvement. It's amazing how clean you manage to keep the interior work areas. I always learn something from every video you post and I appreciate your willingness to share.

Great vlog. Love how your children are present only now and then. I don't like when channels let the kids take over and vlog and film when the parent is doing something else. The insulation you removed from between the metal roof and trusses is put in to stop metal piping and to put the metal under tension to keep the joint seals pulled tight. Once you have the interior done the difference between interior and exterior pressures can cause the metal roof to flop and pop especially in bad weather causing the joint seals to loosen and start leaking.
@diyfferent

The insulation was about 1/16" thick where it rested on the trusses. It wasn't doing much :)

HAIL! Wow, that is a loud event with the roof bare like it is right now. Everyone was wearing ear protection which is an awesome thing. I watched how some people in my life who never paid attention to their hearing protection have lost their hearing through time, and later in life struggle with hearing aids to try to make up for the loss. Nothing is a good as the original body parts, that’s for sure. Hearing loss never regenerates. The sweet little voices of young children are lost forever.

My dad used to refinish antique furniture. He made a mixture of boiled lindseed oil and pure bees wax. It would be kind of like a paste wax. 65 years later I still have some of the pieces he did and they are just as beautiful. Note: A channel called "Stubby Nubs" does an in-depth explanation of tongue oil. The manufacturer's add more polyurethane than tongue oil. I looked at the front and back of the can, and yep, they call it a blend. Very little tongue nut oil. That is why it got stickey on you. You put it on thick thinking it would penetrate, and it just gelled. Take a look at that site.
@diyfferent

No, we only use pure Tung oil, sometimes cut with citrus solvent, not the Tung oil blends that they sell at the hardware store. We made two mistakes, first the stain was still too fresh and probably not compatible with the citrus solvent, but also using tung oil in the sun can cause flash polymerization and we knew that. Ideally, we should have been working in the shade.

thats interesting.. they are changing everything now and making it all garbage... truth is manufacturing outside of the USA doesn't follow any of those standards.. not India not China not central or south America.. we are the ones using this garbage. Its like paint stripper.. its totally useless now.. I worked for and then owned my own car restoration shop and we would strip these big cadilacs and other large vehicles and it would take 3 days from entering the shop until it was totally bare metal.. you can't do that today .. strippers do not take off even old enamels and lacquer paints .. so now instead of one guy a day to strip most of the paint and then another day .. day and a half to sand the surface and sand all the fiberglass and plastic parts .. it takes three guys the same time.. its not reasonable.. and what has happened is you can't take your car into most shops today and ask for a color change overall paint job.. they just will not do it.. but if they did it would be garbage like BakeO or it would be insanely expensive like the specialty shops i worked in.. you're talking $6k for a job that use to cost $1,500 and no one will pay that for their base model honda. its pitiful .. hey but save the world.. yeah nope because the rest of the world is doing it whatever way works.

Staining and Sealing - One way I have found for sealing wood you have stained is to spray the stained wood with a coat of Polyurethane (from a spray can). Then let it dry and brush on a couple of more coats with a little light sanding in between coats. By spraying the first ploy coat, you don't disturb the stain finish. A light coat works great.

Orange Depot has screen rails both sticks 84" I think, and bagged kits for 2 size ranges. You square cut your rail, and plug the end into a pre-made corner. No miters needed. Mill, white and bronze I think are the colors. It's in the aisle with the rolls of screen material, probably next to the plexiglas. Since you are there twice a week, pop over and have a look. Thanks for sharing, and we'll see you next time.

Bar Keepers friend works awesome on the screen frames. The powder, not liquid. You might be able to get screen corner clips too.

Imagine living in a mobile home with no insulation in the ceiling or walls. The noise from rain and wind would drive you nuts.

What a pain with the window. I love the walnut though. How does your arms feel? I feel for you. Kids are growing I have to look twice sometimes to see if it is Asley or Bell. Mav has gotten so much taller. Amazing how they grow. Peace!
