Nice Design... Here's a few Important Tips... I have a lot of homemade outdoor furniture (hardwood by the way) and rain and sunlight are forces to be reckoned with. I would suggest after you complete filling ALL cracks, holes, etc along with your staining, etc to seal them with a solid two part polyurethane floor sealer and do it again and again and again... especially with soft wood. Then after several coats of sealer than switch and put on your Topcoat and again several coats. Otherwise your nice furniture will warp, separate and rot. Ask me how I know... yes, even hardwood takes a beating outside, so never allow ANY cracks or crevices that would allow ANY water to gain access or you will be crying the blues before long. That said... again Nice Design. I would suggest a waterproof glue as well like Titebond Three and the use of some hardwood dowels at key stress points. Stainless steel screws and brad nails would also be a major plus... jus' sayin... if you're building it to last. One final note... old fashioned Bondo makes a good filler and is easy to stain. If you do it right... you won't even notice it has been used. Thumbs Up on your video... Very Good Documentation and camera work in your steps... Subscribed... and God Bless You.

Thanks Kevin, This is some great advice. I have never thought of using bondo as a wood filler. Thanks again for all the great suggestions and God Bless.

Done plenty of chairs and tables here in Texas and in one summer your work is literally toast...spring rain gives way to many days over 100 and you better build solid. Ask me how I know. And then the squirrels...

How do you get Poly to bond over an oil based product like stain? I tried it over Danish oil and it was a disaster. I may have done it too soon maybe, not giving the oil long enough to cure??

@@DIYGene Hey also I'm looking at your cushions. If you don't mind, were they from a local box store or an online thing. I have been looking for cushions for my outdoor swing. My cushions are 20x20 seat area and 20x20 on the back all one piece. Everything I see online will set me over $100 for 3. even if they were longer on the back it could work. Its 60" across. Looking at tossing the swing and making your bench, lol!
