I love the modern appeal this has. What would you recommend for someone trying to achieve the same effect but who cannot go the same route you have considering theft is a major issue in my country.

This was a hot design. If you do t want all that overhang or its too difficult to work with make the bottom board a little larger.

Thank you! Definitely a good fix for someone who can't cut that much excess. At some point there will still be overhang though, unless they cut the pieces shorter in the beginning. Food for thought... hmmm.

Could sand the 1x2s before cutting the 5" pieces to make it a little easier. Would just have to sand the ends after cutting.

Since I had to sand the end grain anyway, it was easier to do it all after cutting all of the pieces. By doing it that way, you can also sand down any tear out that may occur from cutting. Why sand twice? 😊
