We have about two acres of land on the other side of the creek that we can't access by vehicle. It's time to do something about it.

Just went through the comments and your answers... I get a clue about part 2! Lol! The slopes do not show on camera until we see how inclined is the tractor! You are courageous to attempt that! Thanks Martin!

That is some beautiful property. Watching the preview to part 2, that crossing project appears to be a little challenging. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Looks like the extra weight in the rear tires definitely helped

I’m sure it did. The backhoe provided a lot of ballast too, but it also got in the way sometimes. Thanks for watching!

It seemed a great spot for a bridge. Definitely more expensive, but having a bridge would be cool!
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, that's not a good spot for a bridge because of the way the other side is sloped. But just down stream a bit is a great spot for a bridge. I may do it one day but I would need access to the other side to build one. The creek crossing gives me that access if I decide to build a bridge. Thanks for watching!

I’m with Jean, still looks a little steep, a small but wide bridge would definitely change the angle of attack, doesn’t have to be fancy, but strong enough for big Orange 😊

I may build a bridge farther down stream one day, but I would need access to the other to build. The creek crossing will allow this. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful area. I have the nearly the same situation on my property. Once you buy a tooth bar you will ask yourself, why did I wait so long. Worth every penny, to be sure. When you get done with your ramp, some good size crushed rock on entrance and exit will be your friend. Looking forward to part 2.

Martin, I love these kind of projects. The slope on the other side is a bit steep as you found out and once water from the creek wets up the tires, the climbing is a tad challenging. Some gravel will help after you chisel down the slope a bit. You'll tackle this project in no time flat. The wetness is a deterrent as you're discovering. Looking forward to Part 2. Have a fine Sunday and be safe. Your weather seems to be similar to what I have up here in eastern NC. Enjoyed the video. 👍🏽🙂

Hi Don! I know you do. I remember culvert installation videos. They are a lot of fun, aren’t they? Yep, there will be a lot of rock involved, but bigger that typical gravel especially at the creek’s edge. Thanks for watching, my friend!

Some nice tractor time, with the great scenery Martin! Good job with the FEL getting it back up the side. I think you picked a real good spot for the crossing. You have a lot of natural landscape that works with you. The other side does has a pretty good berm on it like you said. This is a great project and I'm really looking forward to how it comes out! Have a good weekend! See ya in the next one!

Martin a tooth bar was the first thing that I put on my tractor. I ordered it before my tractor was delivered. It made a big difference when digging with the bucket. Looking forward to seeing the other side. Later

You'll get a crossing. You are on the right track. Just make sure you know how much volumn of water flow down that creek to how to prevent erosion of what you build.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dwayne! It can be a raging river with heavy rains so I already know I’ll need a good bit of rock to control erosion. Fortunately, I have an infinite supply on my property! Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay....I assume you will install culverts to allow thr water to pass through freely without damaging your improvements for safe passage. Water can be a very, very distructive form. As an engineer....seen it too many times. Best of luck, always enjoy you channel....much to learn from what you do....and, how you do it.

We had two low water crossings across the creek on the home place. It was a bit bigger, at least a good 30' wide at the crossings. It got a little sketchy crossing with the big old Massey Harris tricycle front ends. Both sides were fairly steep and after heavy rains, there were always washes and ruts down the cuts. A set of those fancy chains GP uses in Ontario would make that 3901 walk right outta there Martin !! Good fun video my friend.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendell! I don’t think chains would have helped much on the far side. Might have made a difference backing up on the near side, though. You’ll see what happens in Part 2. The book has been written. Just gotta make the movie! Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay Hahahahaha....and I guess the movie will follow the script of the written word perfectly too !! I like to watch guys play in the mud....its good for the soul. Ya done good with this one so look for a more harsh critique on part 2. Nah....just kidding. I wouldn't do that to you. Take care Martin and enjoy the newfound warmth of the late winter weather.
