In the inner bit for the usb sockets, some water this brass would have been nice but still have the cover he had for it. I thought leaving it would surrounding the usb ports made it look unfinished but other than that I loved this build 😊

I like that you modified the PS5 without having to damage or mess around with it's internals, it's just a new case, besides the few foam pads at the top in the heatsinks to redirect airflow it's untouched, which makes it very easy to revert it back to the original case if you so wanted, very nice.

I do have tools but no confidence plus I don't really like wood in tech. Always makes me think it's plastic and I think of it as horrendously cheap as how many wooden devices do you know?

Yeah, once you start using CNCs, Routers and other too advanced for beginner tools its a a custom professional grade job. Not much use in treating it like a tutorial.

@@lucasrem how about checking all retailers on a regular base, checking ebay for reasonable prices (no i will not pay premium above regular reselling price). Especially in Europe (i'm german) the PS5 is out of Stock since last year, not even being restocked so far. And no, I'm not doing anything crazy such as discord bots to surveil any restocking activity of retailers or so.

This looks absolutely amazing and your video made my day. Looking at the final result at 9:54, if I didn't know it was a PS5, I'd mistake it for an Hi-Fi DAC/Amp or AV receiver. Incredible work, really.

Best tip with cutting carbon fiber is spray some soap on it before cutting as it lets less of the dust get in the air.

Water cooling or any other cooling wouldn’t work with the ps5. That cooling solution that Sony made was specially made for the ps5.

The dbrand stuff is great, I just got the classic grey for that PS1 nostalgia, one thing to note is the adhesive covers are a bit difficult to install(well) if you, like me, lack steady hands

I think they clash too much. Something like steel or aluminum would have looked better with the wood. Just my opinion though.

It is really beautiful. I personally would optimize the cooling and install as much cooling surface and big thermal conducting material and radiators to cool it down.

actually its a router and a cnc thats pro in his tools. he does a lot of handwork. and yes nearly no one has a cnc but if you get a cheap handrouter you can do the stuff the cnc did also .

So I really really love this. it's genius, elegant and just downright amazing. My only complaint is that it looks like ou used the Digital edition? It would have been really great to see how you worked the Disc edition, since that's the one I have and would have commissioned if possible.

I know I like the redesign even better than original ps5 but one problem is the one he made doesn’t have a disk drive. But that’s the only bad thing about it. I’m really wish I had one like that but oh well. Edit: but that’s was for some reason brown hats

I've noticed that too with myself. When you're good at something (not that I'm good at many things), you constantly surprise and amuse yourself when you do something amazing. Humans are very aware of their own shortcomings so we don't generally think of ourselves as capable of creating amazing stuff, so when we do it it surprises us and gives us a nice tingly feeling of proper achievement.

Personally, I have no interest in buying a PS5 (or a PS anything else, for that matter). And as into DIY as I am, I lack the tools and expertise to undertake a project like this, and I have little reason to change that. But watching Matt transform a piece of garish geek tech into a functional work of art is awesome!

Got excited seeing how small it looked in the thumbnail, thinking it might be possible to attach a tablet and make an actual portable ps5, but seeing how large the fan is, that is still not doable. Sucks as I would love to be able to play games while on the subway like I can with my Switch

He ONLY uses the CNC machine because it is quick and fast NOT because its the only way or whatever. Pretty much everything he builds can be done by amateurs like most of his viewers

I could imagine companies selling cases like this for consoles. I’ve seen companies that sell shells for nintendo switches and it comes with everything you need to install it yourself. This is like a more high end version of that. I feel like there definitely could be a market for that.

@@rachelcookie321 They don't because the corporations are waiting to sue them into oblivion, it took ages and lots of money for the bigger names like DBrand and skinit to get permission to sell covers. Every once and awhile Nintendo,Sony,Microsoft release exclusive consoles for games or sports having unique diy shells is a market they don't want to expanded beyond their control.
