That's interesting. I'm new to these, but '12 and '14 are both less appealing ones for me. I feel like this is very technically good, but it doesn't become something great in a new way. I like 2011's a lot more.

amanda agnew Well, no, this ACTUAL video didn't even come out a full 2 years ago (this was uploaded on Dec 18th), so it's only been 2 years. You can't just round 'everything' from 2012 to 3 years once 2015 starts-it depends on WHEN something was released. Gangnam Style itself came out in July 2012, so it's really only been 2- 2.5 years.

I definitely agree, usually music eras tend to last 3 to 4 years from what I’ve noticed. 2007 to 2009 2010 to 20 12 2013 to 2015 2016 to 2018 2019 to now if you look at these eras separately I’d say they have the most similarities to each other

I think it's because of the upbeat pop music itself. Pop was the dominant genre and was inescapable both in 2009 and 2012. As a whole where pop was the main force, it was 2008-2015. Whereas, 2016-present is a whole different era.

I'm really sad pop music nowadays isn't as good as it was in the early 2010s, but it also makes me very sure that there's a new 'golden era' of pop coming at some point. We can't stay in this weird depressed phase forever, it's gotta go uphill again at some point, we will have upbeat, confident songs again and I can't wait for it.

2021 was a big step up for pop music. It's getting more uptempo again, and top 40 radio is even playing a few rock songs again. The top 20 songs of 2021 were much better than 2020 IMO

I remember my brother gave me his old mp3 player back in 2013 that had this song on it. I recently remembered this song and spent hours trying to find it. Here it is. Just as I remember it almost 6 years ago. Time flies.

Every time I watch this video, I just get incredibly happy. It reminds me of a time where things felt simple and were much more fun. I totally miss it, but I'll never forget it.

Yeah in this one the backgroud songs had more longevity and flow... changes were not as smooth in 2013 and the ramp up of the music itself was more energetic in this one.. but both are amazing. DJ Earworm has some serious talent.

This one is the most nostalgic for me, the first year I properly started listening to music. The year I got my first phone and had the freedom to listen to whatever I wanted. Carefree 11 year old.

The end of 2011 and entire 2012 and 2013 were very emotional years for me. So many songs put me back to that era. For the year mix I think this is too short of a mix. There are many melodies that are just nostalgic now.

i think we're all sad to see the years go by so quickly, our years of music slowly drop away, while newer albums and artists take their place. I personally like these because it brings back those days, where we all just sat and listened, and some made us get up and dance, it truly made us feel alive. So through the years, I think its safe to say that I enjoy this, and hope that through different styles of music, different opinions of what sounds good, they stay alive within us. We'll keep the art of music alive, while keeping older styles great in our memories.

You're not the only one. 2015 was the year that stabbed the final dagger in good music. 2014, in my opinion, was the last year of good music (even though it was t the best year). My personal favorite is 2009.
