I met DJ several times. He was a totally cool dude. I was amazed at his whole demeanour. So under stated, and so under rated as far as I’m concerned. Scotty , Bill , and Dj , best Rockin band in history.

I met him in Nashville Airport in 2012. He was standing in line right behind me. He was so amazed that I recognized who he was. We chatted for a good 15 minutes before we boarded the flight to Baltimore. A very true southern gentleman indeed. Definitely one of my drumming heroes and I will never forget that day I met him.

A very nice interview. A awesome drummer and friend to Elvis. I remember my parents listening to those from the "Louisiana Hayride."

He's right , you're raised different in the South . We ain't perfect , but we were raised to mind our manners . He doesn't look too happy in this interview for some reason . I like DJ Fontana though . Thank you sharing .

I wish I would of gotten to meet him before he passed away. Especially that we come from the same town as well as James. Elvis found him at the La Hayride here & would buy from his family members record store that used to be here, his name was Stan. Soo may pictures of them here I'm happy to see. Their story sadly gets pushed out of it so not too many know that Elvis Scotty,Bill & Fontana worked hard for that long here, texas,Arkansas & Tennessee & were already known when Tom seen Elvis & the girls reaction to him. It may not be a great city now but it's part of their story to tell! J Cash & James were also on the La Hayride,James from here to. It was a big deal then to be, but they had to travel & work hard for a year & a half before Tom got lucky & found them not the other way around. DJ had the same mindset about Tom as I do. I now wish I had done my research sooner to know he was from here & would of met him the times he was back home & James. It hurts that I missed that opportunity now since I wasn't even born yet when Elvis passed away but 13 yrs later. I like to think their all playing together again now, those we've lost. Praying that I maybe get to meet James before I cant.
