cassper probs did the same thing with family tree and the artists he had. he signed them, built the company's catalog value, then approached a major label (UMG) for a massive advance to further his own career while using ownership of those masters as collateral to pay back - and he did recoup.

an advance is a load dummy, it's money given to you in advance to be repaid at a later date. which is the same way a loan works - avoid being ignorant on social media.

@@nkolelonjokweni9489A loan and advance aren’t the same thing dummy. A loan is what you get from a financial institution that you have to pay back. An advance is when they give you the money you will make from your own music in advance and they will keep your royalties until you have repaid that amount with whatever additional interest. There’s no monthly repayments and the record label doesn’t attach any of your assets should you fail to pay it back. Recouping and repaying isn’t the same thing. If the record label fail to recoup that money from you then that’s it, they have no recourse but if someone gives you a loan they can attach your assets to get their money back. It’s not the same thing despite seeming similar on premise.

When you are on the RED that's owing the label. To recoup means you need to at least exceed the previous amount so that you don't fall under the predicted amount. If you are not, are you actually recouping anything? And this is about an artist that has artists. He is a budget with a bunch of budgets⚠️😂
