This extended version was already released in ‘85...but in different countries outside USA.USA’s version got Sheila E’s ‘remix’ while everybody else got the entire 9 minute uncut version. The reason for it was that Warner Bros. in The States wanted Prince to delete the additional lyrics about crack/cocaine in which at that time was a serious issue. Instead, he ‘covered’ it with the sound of...umm...let’s just say...’Chaos & Disorder’. ‘Cause that’s how he Felt about the record company when they turned their noses up on the ATWIAD album. Pop life - Everybody needs satisfaction Pop life - Want a chemical reaction Pop life - Everybody wants 2 get high But U don't see no one standing in line 2 say, "bye-bye"

You know, for Prince, the "song" was usually, originally the "long" version recorded as a jam or improvisation later edited down to the "single" mix. Take the song America from same album Around the World in a Day. The 12 inch single version is 20+ minute jam. The version on the album and 7 inch single is just excerpts pieced together. This extended Pop Life has extra lyrics and piano and other performances that album and single "short" versions leave out. The b-side songs She's Always In My Hair and Hello were also "short" and "extended" versions with extra verses etc. It was Prince's way of working a song. Check out interviews with Susan Rogers at Sunset Sound recording studios for more insight too. Facinating.

Prince music was beyond human.... completely on a different playing field. Dig deep into his entire music catalog and study it...😊 You'll be happy you did.

Man…sitting on the stoop of my apartment in Tulsa when this came out. Sixth grade. Boom box with Around the world in a day cassette playing. Laura Carter sitting next to me. Holding hands and singing this song at the top of our lungs. It’s those moments I remember most. And growing up in this era, Prince was the soundtrack to my life.

Until yesterday, I hadn't listened to the hits CD for a while, so I decided to. This is one of my favorites, as are many! To this day, I still don't want to accept that our great Prince is no longer here for us to experience. But the Music lives on!! 😍🎸🎶

I haven't listened to this song in a long time and I have no idea why. We all certainly need the reminder that we are complete as we are and we can be happy right now if we chose.....

Prince did a good job on all his album. In the 80s was the best time ever.

My five year old twin grand babies had their heads in an I pad when I played this song. They listened..then got up and started dancing! Prince transcends generations!

FFS, quit your social media, put down the camera-phone, and be in the moment with your family. Roles reversed, I’m confident you’d want your parents to do the same.
