To fill in for a brief shortage of cars on the N line, a train of R160s from the R line was temporarily reassigned to N service for the PM rush hour. This is an excellent example of dynamic, realtime service management actions taken by the MTA to ensure service levels are maximized at all times. Enjoy this look at an excellently executed ad-hoc rolling stock swap!

With all due respect, I'm baffled as to why you're coming back to this comment but yes when you mentioned "suite" it's saying that the appearance and the operation fit phenomenally on the trains you've listed. I respect your opinion but I believe the r160 N brings back to nostalgia for multiple riders.

The Siemens Propulsion Sets debuted on the N in 2007. They were temporarily pulled from service due to Gearbox Leaks (similar to what happened to the R211’s as of recent). I still have videos of riding both Alstom, and Siemens propulsion sets when based out of Coney Island.

Hey, dj hammers. I have a fact why do some people think that the blue lights in tunnel are signals. Until the reconfiguration of DeKalb Avenue station junction, somewhere near the closed Myrtle Avenue station there was a three-way turnout (a turnout from which two tracks branch off from one track at different sides, and which is a pair of turnouts that were placed too close (interlaced) that the point blades of the another switch is located between the points and a frog of main switch), an 'only one' in system on that days (the three-way turnouts can be found across the yards and some stations nowadays) If the turnout was switched to third track, the special blue aspect lighted up on a signal, indicating that you can move on a third track, (often it lighted up with red or green but almost never with yellow). The blue aspect was abolished after the reconstruction. The blue lights in tunnel nowadays arent a signal aspects any more.

I don’t really see the N or Q getting any R160’s back anytime soon, but I do think we could see them pop up on the W if the line were to be extended to Bay Ridge-95th Street with the R during rush hours. They could definitely share R160’s there, while the W can share R211’s with the N at Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard. Only the N and Q can use R68/A’s.

But Vince, Jamaica Yard needs the R160s because they’re equipped with Queens Blvd CBTC. The W using them can result in a gap in service.

What they MTA should be doing is transferring some more R46 from Pitkin to CI yards. Since the A already has 17 sets of R211A. That would be more logical if you ask me.

I wish this was True but this is very much temporary for a short time Also Once the R46 fully retires the R160s will still be mainly for the (R) & (F) and the (G) Trains because all the R68/A Subway Cars based from Concourse Yard serving the (B) & (D) Trains will go to (N)(Q)(W) Trains in a few years to Coney Island Yard for the CBTC Work

Actually not possible, the R160 were built specifically for the Queens Blvd line CBTC. I think once more R211A and Ts start ordering in, they will replace the aging R46 and R68s.

Jamaica needs all of these R160’s permanently since they hold the most capacity for Queens Blvd CBTC they were literally built for Queens Blvd and they’re doing brilliantly on that corridor.

Yep - for the new CBTC system on the IND Queens Blvd Lines. However, even when the (R) line is 100% R160's the service is still Rancid, Rarely and Rotten !!! or just SUCKS !!!

If you haven't read the description, it was only a TEMPORARY reassigned train to run on the N. This was taken out of service the same day it entered service on the N.
