Paris Métro Line 7bis is one of sixteen lines on the Paris Métro. It connects Louis Blanc with to Pré Saint-Gervais in the north-eastern part of the city. With a length of 3.1 kilometres (1.9 mi) and eight stations, the line is the second shortest on the Paris Métro. Lightly-patronized, it utilizes the strange, small fleet of MF88 cars, which are fairly unreliable and due to be replaced in the next few years.
The line was opened in 1911 and operated as a branch of Line 7. However, due to a large difference in passenger numbers between this branch and the other Line 7 branch (then operating as far as Porte de La Vilette), the branch was separated from Line 7, forming Line 7bis.

The propulsion on these is the best part, if I'm in Paris before these get replaced with the MF 19's, i'll have to ride this line

the acceleration sound on these trains sound like the Mark 1 Trains of Toronto's Scarborough RT, Vancouver's Skytrain and the Detroit People Mover

GEC-Alstom GTO VVVF....Seoul métro serie 4000-7000-8000 are the closer for the sound

it's a metro prototype it will soon disappear it has been in circulation for 35 years we will receive new trains very soon you are lucky to be able to benefit from them

As a montrealer visiting Pre st gervais was a litteraly a must, as without the mp-51 the rubber tired metro would not exist!

Yes, it was supposed to reduce wear on the rails or something like that (Perhaps these trains would be more successful if they just used standard bogies throughout)

These are axles to be able to pass through curves better compared to bogies, but it is not effective.

To make it simple, the first axle does not support the train weight. Its only purpose is to record the profile of the track. The other axles are equipped with a differential and are able to steer progressively thanks to the info given by this leading axle. The goal was to reduce track screeching noise and wear. It effectively kind of reduced the noise in curves but wear became worse. That’s without talking about structural defects and other reliability issues.

They’re between 30 and 32 years old and never been refurbished, that’s not bad for a prototype to last that long.

There’s no conductors but only drivers, they open and close doors and 3 lines are driverless for the moment.

Line 1,4,14 => fully driverless Line 3bis,7bis,10 => driver without automatic train operation All other lines => driver with automatic train operation possible. The train can either be driven manually or automatically. If driven automatically the driver will only have to open/close the doors and check everything is normal. All lines of Paris metro which have drivers are one man operated. Conductors have disappeared a long time ago on Paris metro.
